Silly turn signal question

The front signals are always on and get brighter when they blink, but the back ones only come on when they blink. Is it normal for the front ones to be always on and the back ones not always on??? It's the 05 FZ6

I took apart the bike the day after I bought it to fix the right side visor. I noticed the lights after putting it back together. Thought I might have done something wrong hooking the wires back up.

Glad to know atleast this time I didn't screw up. :thumbup:

Yep, those are the running lights. Running lights are never in the back (except as the tail light), but almost always in the front. If you ever get new signals, they might not have a third wire for the running lights to be on, which is okay.

In addition the front lamps are a dual filament. One for the running light circuit and the other for the directional Light circuit. The rear are just the directional light circuit. When replacing any of these OEM lamps it's always a good idea to replace them with the OEM lamps because they may have a little different filament design that is superior to automobile lamps so they actually have better physical resistance to vibration that a bike produces. Same with your tail lamp.

You can have running lights in the rear, but most states require them to be red. Amber running lights are allowed in the front, however.

Turn signals in the rear can be amber or red.

I, too, am frustrated that Yamaha only put a signal light in the rear on the Fazer ( the tag light doesn't count since is shines down instead of back ).

I will be adding some additional lights for safety ( Hyperlites, perhaps... ).
