Signals/Lamps in Headlight

I have seen some pics around of some member bikes that have has bulbs installed in the corners of the headlight assemblies that look as though they can be used as turn signals. This mod looks pretty straight forward and will probably only require some time, a few light sockets and bulbs from the auto parts store and perhaps a drill.
I have not seen any specific instruction or how to on this mod anywhere in the forum (searching for a few hours only produced photos). I am wondering if anyone else has done this mod or can point me to the thread?
