I got a nail in my rear tire about 2 months ago. I never noticed it until the next morning when i went to push it back out of the garage and it took way too much effort. One look at the rear and i saw the nail.

Just thought i would share my experience with a nail in a tire. Not really a whole lot else to say, except please avoid riding on a patched motorcycle tire. Have fun and be safe!

. I had no choice but to ride the bike to work so I kept a close eye on it. Long story short, it's not loosing air and it seems to be in there tight. The screw is a little to the right of center. Should I just leave it alone or patch/replace the tire?

I am new to this board have been riding for about 3 years. In that time, I have gotten about 65,000 miles so far on various bikes. In my travels, I have gotten several flats. In general, if the nail is in the middle of the tire and not on the side of the tyre, it should be ok.

1. Remove the tire with pliers.
2. Patch the tyre with the long, sticky, gummy thread w/special rubber glue provided.
3. Fill the tyre to the specified PSI.
4. Ride around the block and check the tyre and hour later.

I have put several thousand of miles on tyres this way. If it starts to develop a leak when you check in the morning, then perhaps it will be time to replace it.

I strongly recommend a product I use. It is called Ride On. It is basically a liquid you pour into the tyre that automatically seals most minor punctures. It is vastly better than Slime which is sold in most auto-dealers.

Don't waste your money. Pay $40 to plug it. Treat it like a new tire (keep it easy going for the first 100 miles) until the plug wears in. I have 2500 miles on a plugged rear on my R6S (Dunlops). No issues and I think I should be able run these for another 2500 miles at the very least.

EDIT: BTW, I wouldn't plan on riding on a plugged tire during a track but you probably shouldn't be expecting good results from stockers if you're running a track day.

hmmm the bt 021 as the stocker....I was robbed! mine '08 came with bt 020's stock and after my screw (less than 1500 mi) I replaced it with the bt 021. I am no tire expert but I have no personal problems with the bridgestones.

edit: payed around $150 OTD for the tire and mounted (wheel off of the bike) I got a discount because they scratched my wheel.

That was my mistake, I too got the 020's stock and got them replaced with the 021. Sorry about the confusion.

Sorry I haven't replied lately, been hectic here. Well lets see, last time I checked on my bike the tire was still holding air but I haven't rode it since my post here. Thank you all for the advice and your insight. I'm kind of having a dilemma here lol. On one hand I don't think saving a hundred or two is worth the risk of patching but on the other hand I'm a poor, young security guard and two hundred might as well be two thousand

EDIT: Well I went to check out my tire and see how it's doing. Now I'm F***ING LIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The tires fine but not the seat! Some F*** took a knife to my seat!! WTF!?!? I live in the friggin ghetto. I think I'll just patch the tire and ride down to my folks house to store my bike. I need to get my bike out of here before someone does something else to it or worse, it gets stolen. I'm really pissed. I guess it's gonna be awhile till I get to ride again Is there a way I can attach pics? Maybe you guys can give me some suggestions on fixing it. It's a six inch cut through the cover but only nicked the foam. I need a drink...............................................................................
