Scorpions Vs 2bros

So i m really hesitating between the scorpions and 2 bros exhaust for my 06 fz6.
Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison as far as the sound is concerned ?
I realize that it s all about personal preference but would love some of your opinions.
Sound and performance which do you prefer?

I have not changed my exhaust, but a friend of mine with 20 years of riding experience told me that two brothers packing seems to wear out fast; which makes the exhaust loud.

I did an overnight ride a while back and the guy behind me said he didn't like the sound of my pipes I do, they're nice and throaty with some hot rod pops when decelerating, but I guess on the highway for hours on end they get annoying - well too stinkin' bad...:rockon:

A lot depends on your wallet what type of can, Carbon fiber or alloy. What design you like, tone, loudness and the ability to add or decrease sound by adding or removing an insert or Decibel killer.

I'm a Two Brothers fan I like the design and the DB killers. I've had three bike with the Two Bros. and since they've been all M2 type cans, I was able to keep my Db killers and transfer them to the different bikes. I've got 2 different Db killer and they are pricey but if you like loud you can just pass on the Db killers. Also for me personally I can run up the freeway to their facility for any part or problem I need "Right Now!" Haha!

Love the way the Scorpions are put together. I don't think I've ever seen a dirty unkempt Scorpion. The owners must all love them be cause they always look clean and polished. They seem to have a more reserved sound. I also like the tip on the Scorps They have that same sort of tip shape as the Two Bros. Another cool exhaust is the Leo Vince Really great tone. There are to many to mention so as Kazza said, search is your friend.

I did not know there were different types of Db killer for the 2 Bro's pipes...i have a set of the gold ones, that look like a wide sorta funnel, that fit under the end caps....but there is another type???

The first Db killers they came out with were really not that effective. I think they were name P1R or PR1. Then they came out with the X nomenclature with a smaller bore internal tube with a larger bore on the outer tube that extends into the magnesium tip. The P1X type are very effective in comparison. They claim around 8 decibels attenuation. The originals were a claimed 2 to 3 Db attenuation. Two Bros have 2 different series cans for the SV, M2 and M5. The M2 is the same can design on most of the OEM replacements for street bikes including the FZ6. The M5 is dimensionally larger and would probably not facilitate the same Db killer

I could not believe the sound of the Two Bros on the SV1000 without the Db killers. Since the Cat is in each OEM can, the sound pressure is ungodly. 3 of my neighbors who ride were watching me finish the install and when I started it they were :rockon: Hahaha! But alas! I have to consider the rest of my community and installed the P1x's
Went for a ride with Westgoingzax (Alex) yesterday and he'll tell you even with the inserts these Two Bros are sweat sounding.

thanks for the input, i m still a little torn. The two bros is definitely more expensive, but i think i prefer the look of them . Can you take off the 2bros decal on the pipes, and same thing for the scorpions?
I like the look of the aluminum 2 bros black edition cans, but i ve never seen them on a fz6.
I wonder if aluminum is harder to keep looking clean, as opposed to the carbon fibre. Also, do you think there is a weight difference between the two? there is no mention of this on the 2bros site, only the benefits over the stock exhaust.

I have the 2-bros (Ti) on my FZ6 - had I seen the scorpions with the same style endcaps - I'd have likely gone that route. Why? Because I like how the Scorpion setup integrates with the stock fender. I ended up modifying a few parts to make the factory setup work with the 2-Bros because I didn't feel comfortable on the highway with those tiny/dim turn signals.

I wasn't a fan of the Scorpions with the little "tiny tailpipes" after the cans, but the newer style looks great. (to me).

Sound wise - I've had the 2-Bros with DB killers described as "not at all annoying, but I can tell you're in front of me" whereas the stock setup is quieter than the motor and chain on the highway. The 2-Bros is still a little loud at low speeds, but not the guilt generator I felt before the inserts. I was literally feeling bad about driving down my street at 8am before the DB killers. I'm still not going to sneak up on anyone with the DB killers in, but I don't think I'm going to wake anyone either.

The aluminum is easily polished and they can stay nice looking for a long time but you will get crap flung up on the underside of them and that can lead to pitting etc. Part of that is due to the fact that you will be putting on a fender eliminator so check the underside often and clean when needed. The carbon fiber cans have a tendency to yellow on one can compared to the other can. I believe this is largely do to uneven heat because the exhaust gasses favor the right side can due to the "Y" pipe design. Also you will find Two Brothers doesn't recommend the CF cans if you Dyno the bike and they specifically say it can lead to a burn out of the material. They stress you can have premature color change if you neglect to change the packing as recommended. With alloy, I'm sure you can go past the recommended packing replacement and it will mostly effect sound quality.
I just bought the aluminum cans because of economics and the design of my new bike allows me to easily clean them. I don't think there's a weight difference to consider unless you're looking at a big purse at the end of race and you're already dropping a lot of weight by dumping the OEM parts.

I can comment on Two Bros, as my used FZ came with them. They did not have the db insert in them.

When I picked up the FZ, and rode it home, by the third stop light, I couldn't wait to shut the bike off. I had a headache in about ten minutes. And this is coming from someone who has hearing damage from too many metal concerts(and not wearing hearing protection), and blasting his car stereos. They have a loud, bass-y drone that gets old real fast. And it gets worse when you're cruising. Best example, is either a Mustang(any year) or a Suburban with those straight through Flowmasters or equivalent. I'm sure you've seen/heard both. You know that loud, hollow bass drone? That's what these did. I ordered up a set of the P1X inserts, and now I'm happy. They're still loud, but not piss-of-your-street loud. The inserts took away all the annoying drone, and got rid of most of the bass, but there's still just enough that it sounds great. They also gave the bike more of an F1 car type scream when accelerating hard. I love the way they sound now, even if they are still a little bit too loud.

My cans are the carbon fiber, and they have turned yellow, despite my best efforts. Something to keep in mind, is that CF will turn yellow, unless you repack them EARLY, and lather on some 303 protectant on a regular basis. I repacked them on Saturday, and that was NOT fun. The packing in them wasn't even burned out, but they still yellowed from what little got through the packing. The Scorpions, do not need to be repacked. This is something to consider. If I don't have new cans by the time these need to be repacked, I'm going to just pay someone to do. I'd rather tear the engine all the way down and rebuild it for the heck of it rather than repack cans. lol Also keep in mind, only the CF and Titanium cans have to be repacked sooner than the aluminum cans.

Really it comes down to your preference as to how an exhaust looks and sounds. I like a bit quieter, and no maintenance. Others want it as loud as possible while still having mufflers, and maintenance is no biggie. Honestly, I'd love to keep my Two Bros, as I LOVE the way they sound(with inserts), but I'm too lazy for this repacking crap.

Not many people chiming in for the Scorps so I guess I will.

Great sounding pipe. I've never had anyone tell me they were too loud and do not get a drone on the highway like novaks47 gets with his 2Bros. I've had a lot of complements on the way the bike sounds. So other folks, that hear it on a regular basis seem to like the way it sounds. I do too. They were on the bike when I bought her, older style with the 'tips' style nozzle. Mine are stainless steel. I'd put them on the bike again.

Thanks for the response. I definitely don't want pipes that are so loud they make me want to stop riding, however people's opinions as far as the loudness seem to differ quite a bit.
The whole need for repacking has me reconsidering the 2bros however, because it sounds like a huge pain in the ass, and i m not particularly good at handy work. lol
Price isn't really a big issue as far as scorpions vs 2bros is concerned because i dont think i want the carbon 2bros, and the difference between scorpions and aluminum 2bros is about 170$ ca. I just wish i could hear them both in person before making a decision...
