Riding in Shorts????

I guess you all can take turns chastising me now for saying that I have only ridden in jeans this year.

my overpants don't fit anymore. Anyone want to donate?

I always wear my draggin jeans minimum and leather jacket etc here in the uk, purely because its never really too hot. However, i was in italy and france a couple weeks ago, and when i was just popping into town i wore shorts and tshirt. The way i saw it...can go 30mph on a push bike. And carrying jackets, trousers, helmets, boots for 2 around a supermarket wasnt a very suitable option.

Anything out of town....Full gear all the time, regardless of heat, distance etc

I felt VERY vulnerable even at 30mph in town. Leather jacket....ill happily break the limit :D.... false sense of security really but meh, its fun :D

Rode in shorts once, for like a hundred feet (moved bike from the street to parking space in front of my house after they did some road work). Felt freaky as hell, but I wasn't about to gear up for 30 seconds on the bike. However, when I'm out riding, helmet, jacket, gloves, jeans (i know, i know) and over the ankle hiking boots, though researching regular riding boots. Saw a guy not too long ago around here riding in shorts and flip-flops...thought the guy was out of his mind. If I ride to the train station to go to work, i'm in slacks, but its a PITA to carry a second pair of shoes plus a pair of pants in my backpack.

Helpful hints:

1) I leave my good shoes at work under my desk. On days when I ride, I'll have riding boots on of course, and change when I get to work. On days when I don't, I'll be wearing sneakers or snow boots or other weather-appropriate footwear instead, which are more comfortable to commute in anyway.

2) Overpants of whatever material you like allow you to wear your dockers or whatever at the same time, just need to stash the overpants when you get to work.

Who hasn't seen a great pair of legs on some chick hanging on the back---especially during summer. I see it often. Chicks on the back of a sportbike or a Harley babe on the back. But, yeah, you gotta think, Geesh, I'd hate to see you go down. Wear jeans, anything for at least a LITTLE protection. But, you know, around here CHP bike officers can be seen wearing short sleeve shirts and a 3/4 helmet----not exactly full gear. Myself, I, 95% of the time I wear upper (lower just jeans) gear, gloves and boots in addition to my full face. It's often around 100 degrees farenheit around here during the summer when I can't wear but a mesh jacket (forget leather!)
