RFID and/or Electronic Circuits help

Hello, im working on a project with RFIDs what i want is an active Reader that reads passive tags on a distance of 1 meter (minimum 50~80cm) the internet is full of readers at 125khz but these read tags only at a distance of 10cm max. i know that on higher freqs i can read at a higher distance but i cant find any circuit for cheap or any schematic to build my own.

i know we have great minds on this forum so if anyone can help id appreciate


p.s. i need the tag to be passive

EDIT: The reader doesn't need to be any sophisticated, a voltage drop, led light,relay drive or something like this when reading registered tags is what i need. no connection to pc or something hard

I was reading up on RFID systems a few months back. The ones that are used in the US for Toll roads are probably what you would want. The link below will get you started; if you follow that a few links, you can get to the company that makes the RFID products for the toll road system.
