Search to forum people have tried all kinds of things to get the stickers off. Wd-40 and a blow dryer seems to be popular. Most people first mod is a dual headlight mod and a fender eliminator kit. Check out the mod portion of the forum and you will find all kinds of things to do cheap like a helmet hook

welcome aboard!!!

cheap mods are FE kit $30-$60ish?

dual headlight mod $8??? wire and electrical tape

make a larger opening in the airbox - $3 for a dremmel cutting blade

Gut the Catalytic converter - free but on the side of difficult

parking lot practicing - Free but invaluable!

GET GEAR!!! good gear is probably more than $100, but worth every penny.

Welcome to the forum! This is a great place to get all the answers you need. Once you have become a member, which you are now, you can utilize the search tab above and you can pretty much find just about anything. I've posted a link regarding the sticker removal. There are several different threads on this subject. As far as cheap mods, In my opinion, I would go for a louder horn. This of course is after you have acquired the necessary safety gear. It will save your ass many times, if you learn how to use it. It's not as simple as you may think. Most natural reaction is to hit the brakes, you'll need to aquire the same natural reaction when to use the horn as well.

As 2-Stroke said, a hair drier works great, get 'em nice and toasty and they come right off. I think the fairing looks much cleaner as a result. I like clean.

I removed all of mine in under 30 minutes...
1) Stole Mrs Ready's hair dryer.
2) Stole a bit of gas from her can.
3) Done! And she was still watching "Lifetime"- never knew...
4) Still hiding- just to make sure it's safe...

Before spending money on mod's I would suggest an MSF course if you haven't taken one yet, good safety gear and maybe a book or two: Proficient Motorcycling by Hough (1st or 2nd edition) and Ride Hard, Ride Smart by Hahn come to mind off hand but there are many more out there. By the time you get done with that stuff, you will have enough time on your ride to know what you want to do for mod's and will be much happier in the long run.

Just a thought. Either way, have fun.

Be well and enjoy,
Mike
