Hi guys! Anyone ever had a problem with their regulators dying?
My battery has been slowly dying over the past week
Starter Motor sounded more and more naff
So yesterday it finally had died... So I take it to the garage
Had a play around with the volt metre and the trickler
To find the volts dropped when the bike was on
Turns out the regulator was dead
£110 for a genuine part
Half an hours labour and all is ok

Anyone else had the same problem? I don't think it's common

It does happen. Often times is the result of leaving an aged battery in use too long and then end up JUMP STARTING IT from a running Auto.

DANGER!!! A Running Automobile has MUCH energy potential and can KILL the FZ RR!!!

The modern day cage can output 100 to 200 AMPS (1300 to 2600 watts). The FZ RR can only handle about 300 watts. So, LEAVE THE ENGINE OFF on the cage when jump starting your bike. The Automobile charging system sees the FZ as load with its 1) dead battery and 2) RR (which is a load also) and can unload its potential into it. This leads to RR internal damage.

Now, I'm not saying this is what happened, but it happens often.
