Rear axle nut/bolt removal?

I have a 2008 FZ6 and I'm getting really close to replacing my stock Dunlop D252 rubber with some Battlax BT-021's

I've done some research that indicates I need a 32 and a 36 mm wrench/ socket to remove the rear wheel. 32 and 36 mm sounds awfully large, and I don't have precise means to measure my axle bolt and nut.

Anybody have any experience with the 2008 FZ6 axle removal, and the correct tools needed? I'm planning on removing my wheels and having a local shop mount and balance the new rubber.

I don't know if the 2008 is different from the 06, but I use a large adjustable wrench. Once the axle nut is off I tap out the axle with a socket extension and mallet. Don't forget to put the brake caliper/bracket in its slot when you reinstall the wheel.

Its a 32mm, it is large but worth a couple of bucks. Adjustable wrench works as well but I am a bit of a stickler on torquing bolts like this one.

Put in on the center stand, put it in first. Take OUT the key. Use the tools under your seat that came with the bike. Works perfect. use the wrench along with the helper tool thing that slides on for better grip/leverage

And once you have the correct size, note this: position the wrench so you're initially loosening the bolt with a downward motion! If you're pushing towards the front of the bike, you may knock it off the centerstand! (don't ask how I know this)

I loosen the axle bolt a little on the side stand in gear - then lift via the center stand and then fully loosen and remove the bolt.
