First off I use to be a painter and bodyman. I use to restore old cars. I have never been a fan of rattle can, I thought it was junk and never looked good untill now. I dont have access to all the paint supplys I use to, And gun paint is damn exspensive anymore. So thanks to sportrider I tried rattle can and I am beside myself right now. I used some krylon semi flat black, krylon clear, And some hand buffing. Tell me what you guys think.

That looks awesome! All that sanding is tough work but worth it when you see the end result.

Looks really good.

by rattle can, I'm guessing you mean the spray paint in the cans with the ball bearing in it?

Cause, you know, they rattle...

did you put all ten coats on before wet sanding? Was the surface plastic or metal? Would you recommend on larger surfaces?

Yes,The can with the bearing in it.

The surface was plastic. Yes I put all 10 coats on then wet sanded with 2000 grit wet paper. Actually since I tried this I am going to try the whole bike And see how it works. Remember painting is 90% prep, 10% paint.

Rattle Can

If you look on "superbikestore.com" you'll see my dark blue 06 FZ6 I set up for commuting & touring. I used "Color Rite" paint ($33.00 a can for professional grade paint) and it was ready to color sand in 45 minutes (great flash point). It matched exactly to factory. It was all Rattle can (just custom ordered). I'll break out my spay gun when I do My daughters car, but for buke stuff, I' stick to rattle cans with pro paint.

So if you guys want to color match your bike, check out colorrite.com and you'll be very happy with the results & customer service!!

I was going to say the black looks great but the blue could use a respray. Nice work, I totally agree with what you said about the prep work.

I am an avid painter (amateur level). Whenever I take on a painting project with my brother in-law (my partner in crime) I always say "you know that would look a lot better if it was sprayed". He not being a great sprayer has to do the prep work (sanding, taping, priming and cleaning up) he hates me for it. :p
But I get a kick out of it and we are both satisfied with the finished product.

Can't wait to see pics of your bike when you re-do the paint.

P.S. take some before pics. ;) ;)
