R6 cans on an FZ6

I've got an 07 R6 can in my garage (one of the underslung ones) and offered it up to the FZ to see if it might fit. It almost looks as if there's room under the seat to fit a couple of these, anyone tried it?

I wonder if you could fit the R6 exhaust on the FZ6 like the R6 race version.

Probably have to remove the center stand. Then come up with something to fill the huge hole in the tail where the old exhaust was.

And also if it is underneath it will be incredibly loud as most of the R6 silencing is done by a collector box underneath the engine.
I think two cans and leaving the cat in place might make if fruity without being way too loud. I am going to take it to our local exhaust fabricator and see what he thinks before ebaying another R6 can. One problem is that the mounting bracket will have to be taken off and replaced on the inside of one of the R6 cans, then somehow have to be treated to look like the original matt titanium finish, might put a sticker over the mark or something. Will post again if it works, they are very light cans and with their tapered ends should look good too. Buying them off ebay is cheap as long as you go for just the can and not all the exup gubbins that you don't want anyway.

Thats the easy part mate!
The hard one is to make the bike work fine with the new exhaust.

Yeah, I think the trim off the tail section is whats missing. I seen the video of your bike and it looks good, looking forward to seeing/hearing it when its done. :thumbup:!!!

I think it looks pretty good, but IMO, if you change the exhaust to a side exit, you might as well do a cool tail swap too, since the FZ6 tail was designed to have 2 exhausts running underneath it.

Got a second can off fleabay, thats a total of £60 for the pair. They are incredibly light. I've checked and there's more than enough room underneath for them both, got to take them to my fabricator and sort out pipework and mounting brackets. Not sure if I should just use the straight thru one and leave the offset one as a dummy (for looks) or if I should connect them both up. I think with only one it will be very very loud as there's nothing in it and it's pretty short. My preference would be to connect them both up and put a baffle in the straight thru one, I think maybe the offset one won't get as much gas thru it anyway so might not contribute as much noise.
I would like to have the chamfers on the ends of the pipes the same way as the original but that would mean the original R6 brackets would be on the outside and would have to be removed and rewelded. By having the pipes with the pointy bit on the outside it would fit the curve of the original trim better but not sure how it would look. Have to try it and see.
