Question on Saddlebags

I'm looking at some saddle bags for the fz that I don't have yet lol.
it looks like you drape the bags over the seat and then they fasten together under the tail... except for us we have the exhaust there.
does the extra heat from the exhaust affect anything, or does the heat shield cool it down enough to put the tank bags on there?

I have not had any heat issues with luggage. I run the cross strap under the license plate light. I hook the other straps to th epassenger peg mounts.

I've had no issues with either the stock exhaust or aftermarket (no heat shield).

I have the cortech sport bags(soft bags) and haven't had any problems with the heat. I put the big strap under the seat and the little strap over the seat. Keeps it secure and looks good.

I can fit a pair of boots in one bag, and a change of clothes and an overnight bag in the other, then I can fit tools and misc stuff in the tail bag.

I have the Cortechs as well and no heat issues here. Either with straps under teh exhaust or the bags up against the heat sheild. Been running for months with just my tailbag and the straps resting against the heat shield with no issues either.

Nelson Rigg CL-900 bags on mine. no heat problems and they attach just as you specify. Type in "luggage" to the search thread for BMCCary's luggage thread of everything that fits with photos of how it looks.
