A ship is docked in harbour. A rope ladder hangs over the side. The rungs are 1 foot apart.

The tide rises 9 inches per hour. At the end of 6 hours, how much rope ladder will remain, assuming 9 feet of ladder was above the water when the tide began to rise?

PM answers only please.

The answer is 9 ft!

Thanks for the great turnout. :cheer:

Sorry BusyWeb - you have to commit to one answer only :(

Chemiker - thanks so much for your in-depth answer - tides, salinity - you really thought about this one :)

Edit - Sorry Stevenator, you won yesterday. You are ineligible for this one.
