This was a disappointing learning year for this famed motorcycle manufacturer. Having spent the money to design and build a bike for the World Superbike Championship the machine would later fail to achieve that goal. Then, to make things even more interesting the team rider would later in that same year turn up positive for use of a banned drug taken to lose weight during pre-season training. This bike and rider would finish second to Colin Edwards for the championship.

Who was the manufacturer?
Who was the rider?
What was the year?
Which bike was it?

QUOTE=Khyren]after some clever googling,

A few hours before receiving this, Zebratounge had posted the first 3 correct answers but failed to get the bike correct when he sent YZF-750. the acceptable answers would have been YZF-R7 or simply R7.

Good hunting on both accounts.
