problems at start

To begin with I have a FZ6N 2004. Here is a short story of what happened:

My battery got depleted and I called a friend with a car to connect his battery at my battery so that I can start my bike. We connected the car and my bike and I managed to start the bike. After that I went for a 20 min walk with my bike to let the battery recharge a bit. When I came back I stop the bike to check if it will start again (if the battery was recharged enough). When I tried to restart it would not start. I could only hear the starter but there was no action from the engine.

I turned the key to OFF and when I turned it back to ON the engine trouble light remained on and on the display I got error 12.

I looked to see if I accidentally unplugged something but everything looked ok. When I turned the key again back to ON the engine trouble light was not lit anymore but another problem occurred. The Immobilizer system indicator was blinking continuously and the display showed ER-1.

Any idea what could have caused this?

First of all:

The bike does not charge that much (if at all) below 5000 RPM.
So you have to RIDE it for 20 - 30 minutes, - not just leave it in idle.

I'm pretty sure(90%) those errors are due to a bad/depleted battery.

When you get it started, either through push start or jump, ride it around for a while.
If you absolutely have to let it sit and idle, disconnect the headlights and any accessories so it doesn't drain more power than it's generating.

The problem is that when I saw it does not start I reconnected it a the car battery again but it would not start.

I will try to take the battery out and charge it with a charger and see what happens. I really hope that these error where caused by the battery.

Hi,

Fault code 12 is an issue with the crankshaft position sensor. As long as a signal is not recieved from the crankshaft position sensor you will not be able to start the bike.

ER-1 is an ECU malfunction, no signals are received from the ECU and you will not be able to start the bike.

First check the connections on the ECU, maybe you knocked something while in the bike?

If you don't find anything loose, I'm thinking the charge from the car may have been been too high for the bike.

Both of those errors would be caused by the ECU not getting enough power, but it's minutely possible there's something wrong with those parts, but unlikely.
If you do a search many people have experienced those errors with a dead battery.

To the OP:
Buy a battery tender, and instead of removing the battery, wire up the connector to the battery for the battery tender, that way you can connect it without lifting up the tank.

I have managed to start the bike. The errors seemed to be caused by the battery not having enough power.

I took the battery out of the bike and I have charged it fully. When I placed it inside the bike and turn the contact ON the error ER-1 was gone but it got back to error 12 instead. I switched to diagnostic mode and then turned the bike OFF and when I tuned it back ON there was no error displayed anymore.
