Keep that purty FZ6 for the street, and take something made for track out on the track!

The bike is a GS500 built to race 500 twins. It's been built by a local builder; it's reliable, has good pull but very controllable power, handles great, stops great.

Motor:
JE high comp pistons
Head ported
Kibblewhite shim under bucket retrofit (it takes normal-sized shims now)
Megacycle full race cams
Keihn CR special carbs
Yoshimura headers, Kerker titanium mid pipe and can.
Timing advance

Three hours on a valve adjust, zero hours on oil change

The frame is a 92.
Custom rearsets
Custom titanium subframe
91 GSXR swingarm (wheel is Marvic Mg 5.5 for a FZR1000, PM rear brake)
2001 GSXR triples and forks (Stock 3.5 GSXR 320mm rotors)
Fox remote-reservoir fully adjustable shock
520 chain
WP adjustable steering damper
CRG adjustable brake lever
Tech-spec tank pads
Fully drilled for safety wire
Billet aluminum timing cover with replaceable center
Pirelli slicks

Dave Moss of CRT set up the suspension for my weight and did a full service on the Fox rear shock.

$2000. Includes rear stand. ;)

Yes - my plans to race the big tracks anytime soon have fallen victim to the economy, so I need to downsize, and that means consolidating my street and track bike into one. So, FZ and GS replacement - one that splits the difference between street and track and doesn't do either as well as the two:

It had been sitting out in a yard and needed a lot of work. I've never had to vacuum dead bugs and leaves out of a motorcycle before. Now that it has all of the rusty bits replaced and the grotty bits cleaned, it's a lot nicer.

It's heavier and not as flickable as that GS, though, and the suspension can't touch the one on the GS. The GS is one sweet bike that teaches corner speed like nothing else but a 250 two-stroke will - and it's a lot less maintenance than a two-stroke.

I'll work with an interested buyer on the GS; I want it to go to a good home that will take it out and have fun.

Now $2000.

You could do $2000 worth of damage to your nice FZ6 at the track - or take this thing out an have a blast without worrying about anything you might do it it. :)

I want this :(

My first bike was a GS500. LOVED IT. I'm sad that I got rid of it but it had to go since i moved and it oculdn't move with me.

This... wow this is an awesome bike. Know of any good/cheap shipping companies? (good/cheap/quick... pick 2) I'm not in a hurry to get it but I'm getting excited over this bike.

How much more work will you need to put into it before it's ready.

Nothing. No work needed. Add gas, twist throttle, go.

Check out the Google - I found a number of companies. The cheapest option is shipping depot-to-depot; house-to-house is a bit more.
