Well thought I'd show the results of studying the forum for idea's. I've wired two circuits one always on for the gps and the other switched for the tank bag accessories with room for more. The fuses are back near the battery. I want to thank all the members that posted their electrical mods. I purchased all the powerlet gear from Eastern Beaver Company which is the best one stop shopping for powerlet products.

Where did u get that flexo tubing. I had a hard time finding it locally when I was doing my mod.

You can spend $5 and have a lousy looking wiring job, or you can spend $10 and some extra time and have it look professional.

This is clearly a $10 job. Nice work!

yes the relay to the middle of the block then to the main cable run. I used your drawing to connect relay.

Thanks I am getting stuff to do the same mod...And have been looking all over town too. I am going to run direct to the Battery, hope i don't run into the battery drain you had...did u just forget the grips were active? Or was it a constant draw problem?

If you direct wire to the battery, use a relay and have an ignition switched wire like lights or something trigger the relay. That way it won't get power if your ignition is off.

But if nothing is plugged into the socket when the bike is off there should be no need for a relay...thats what I am trying to figure out. I don't plan on trying to run anything other than the occasional cell charger or GPS(or anything that can be unplugged for that matter). I like the idea of the relay and what some guys have done, but anything past basic soldering and setup; I'm better off keeping it simple. Just wanted to have the OP clear up if it was the heated grips were the reason of the batter drain.

I'm not sure where the heated grips came from. This is my first electrical mod to my bike. But I do have space to plug in heated grips later to the switch side of my set-up. What you want to do will be fine.

I have my charger wired directly in as it will take days to drain the battery with a phone charger etc plugged into it. Also, when touring I will want to charge stuff during the evening without having to run the engine! My grips are switch on using a relay to the headlight cable though as I killed a battery on my last bike leaving the grips on all day!

I put the new mod to test with a 4 hour mountain route Sunday morning and the ipod and Garmin worked flawlessly I'm also using a Mix-It for the audio. :rockon:
