Hello all – I wanted to announce my arrival to FZ6-Forum.com. I just purchased my very first adult motorcycle after being out of the riding game for 11 years now and you could say that seeing an FZ6 for the first time was love-at-first-sight.

Not to say I’m not one to stop talking about myself, but I do have a couple of legitimate questions to ask: if I purchased this bike from another FZ6 enthusiast who pampered this bike to the point of naming her (Crossfire), is it bad luck, poor taste, bad juju to rename a bike? I’m not crazy on the Crossfire name – I’m thinking I will ride her for a bit and find her name.

And two, do you name your bikes? If so, what are some of their names? No thieving here – I’m just curious…

Sincerely,

jSmileyb

Congrats!
And welcome to the forums.
I always name my bikes.... eventually. I just think you need to find the right one, sometimes its instant, sometimes not so much. Definately wouldn't be keeping someone elses name for it either!

You are surely coming loose!

Never been one to name my vehicles, but know many who do. Is that Arrow exhaust I see peeping out the back, if so, nice! Always liked the Augusta exhaust look.

Whats in a name ? The only names I have given my Truck and bike in all the years were Blue for my old blue pick up and Baby Love for my bike. A name will not bring you any kind of luck, good or bad.

You got it! I thought the quads added a mean look to an already crazy bike.

My thoughts exactly - I hate how insecurely superstitious I am...

Congrats... love the Lasers...

About the name, I can't help you... I don't name my vehicles...

How much did you pay for this bike? How many miles? Looks like the previous owner crashed it and fixed it up pretty well... (flat black front cowling, flat black tank + flat black side cover are the clues)... looks good!

I paid $3000 for the bike with a little over 10,000 miles (2005). No wreck - I was given all original parts with purchase. Previous owner replaced all stock and now I have a garage full of spares.

Nice price! and pretty low mileage too! :)

You mean he gave you a extra tank, front cowling and side cover? You are very lucky indeed since all of that could be sold for around $1k...

The side covers have a crazy sticker on them (a big fan of the jester), but after I get them off I'm thinking of putting the whole lot - including the original exhaust (minus the tank) up for sale.

I've always wanted to paint the front cowl pieces flat black but was very hesitant. Looks killer, have to do it now!
Love the header wrap too, the bike is just very mean looking. Black wheels also???

:welcome: Enjoy and ride safe.

Nice looking bike. If the bike had a unique history then I would say keep the name, if not...your bike your decision, to name, not name, keep the name, etc.

ATGATT= All The Gear All The Time

Good lookin' bike and great price. Now all it needs is a set of black R6 forks.

We've got a naming thread somewhere around here. Call it what you want. It's yours.

..sniff, sniff...I'm feelin' the love, man.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes - it was totally the opposite on my way into work this morning..brrr...

I'm thinking the decision is to not make a decision...yet. I'm definitely not referring to her by the given name, but I'm not ruling out the fact that I may name her one day. I'm hoping that it will just come to me if that's the case.
