why would you set up your bike that if you ever have an accident you will fly over the bar but your balls will stay on your tank ?

a paint job will be cheaper than buying parts. i also agree that the sky blue isnt really that bad. i would get the bike back to DOT standards first. Get your headlight, blinkers, speedo bracket, mirrors, etc. and ride it for a while before getting it painted.

statistically if this is your first bike, its likely to be put down (not that you will) but if you tip it at low speed and scratch it up a bit, its better to do so before repainting the bike, right? it also gives you more time to decide on which color you want. you said you were colorblind, if there is any color that you can pick out fairly well, i would go with that.

† just curious but what kind of colorblind are you? red/greed, blue/orange, or do you mix up all colors?

I am definitely getting this thing in good riding condition first. Once my VS02 headlight kit comes in, I will work on it until it is ready to ride. I have my MSF training course on May 3-5 and I won't even consider riding it until after that. So, I have some time. And the weather here in Nebraska as been crappy. The weather better get going!

My colorblindness is pretty wide ranging. Sometimes I think pink shirts look white. I get blue and purple mixed up often. Red, green, brown, and orange can all fowl me up depending on how the light hits it.

I recently took a color blind test. You know, one of those tests that have all these little dots of different colors and there is a number "hidden" in there? There were 20 questions and I got 19 wrong. The only reason I got one right is because they have a dummy question that everyone will get right (they want to see if people are lying). Haha. So the only question I got right was the dummy problem.

the colour doesnt actually look bad. its a paler shade than yamaha's own power blue, (the power blu looks better of course

I think the fact that most of us would have ran from that bike at the first sight is the interesting decision he is referring to.

But, I've followed this thread and your posts on other threads. I can see your line of thinking about how to get it cheap and fix it up how you like.

I also think you have a good budget for gear, so your decisions are not that off board. I would budget $50 for gloves, $250 for a jacket (textile 3 season), $300-500 for a helmet, $150 for boots, $200 for pants (textile summer or kevlar jeans)

I prefer Oregon too! I went skydiving in Mollola and had a great visit at Crater Lake. I love that State! And yes, Nebraska is painfully dull in it's geography. There are some neat places, but it's few and far between, ugh!

I have that exact same fairing except the speedo is mounted directly to my handlebars with some straps that look like extra-wide zip ties - it's off center to the right side a little bit. I changed out that bunkass headlight bulb with a good H4 or H6, I can't remember..whichever one was the high beam bulb...I used the fairing body but pulled the other wiring and crap out of there.

The previous owner had wrecked this bike so it came with that weird looking fairing with rubber straps and 15/16" socket used as spacers on the top side. Dude just did whatever to keep the fairing on there

I want to upgrade the fairing next. Looking forward to seeing your final set up!

That's about what my budget is for all my gear. I am going to get it all tomorrow! Then my training course is a week from tomorrow. I can't wait! :rockon:
