planning on making a cafe racer... looking to bounce some ideas/get some input

I must say that I am in total agreement! A friend of mine in Florida loves to restore old bikes. This same bike was one of his projects. Not only is it now in perfect original form, he rides it to work almost every single day! (I think the waterpump was the biggest hassle to repair) Good luck whatever you do! Keep us posted?

I'd like to do a project too and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. Maybe a SR500 in to a traditional English cafe racer. Or maybe an XS400. Gotta stick with Yamaha you know.

yeah i agree go the cafe racer route,just make sure (and you promise me to get rid of those ugly handle bars).Ace bars would look great on it.

I goofed when I sold my XS400 (with spare donk)
Rather than painting headers black, or extractor wrapping them, or even getting them chromed, I would go with ceramic coating.

My XS400 tank looked awful and a bit dorky when I got the bike. It was white with primer, and dented. I got it fixed and painted, and in the nice red colour, and on the bike with all the matching bits, it looked pretty sweet. (I like the look of the second one you posted. (maroon with the gold stripes).

i think it's time to revive this thread. i have had so many issues trying to get the two frames i have titled. so much so that i had given up on this project. turns out, i should be getting a titled frame this week. So hopefully i'll be able to get back on this. it'll be slow going... but it'll be going once i have a frame. wish me luck.
