On my way to work today, I was in the HOV lane where it's extra wide and smooth. I usually cruise between 90 - 100 on this particular stretch. But today, I noticed there was a small line of vehicles lined up in front of me. As I got closer, I noticed it was a motorpatrol officer cruising about 65 in a 55, based on my speedo. In addtion, there was a marked police cruiser near the bike cop in one of the other lanes, but it had people in the back seat so that cruiser was "out of play" as far as I was concerned. Of course, the other 4 lanes were all jammed up because everybody was afraid of passing the cops. I hate that, I call cops cruising down the highway as pace cars, because thats what they are. NOBODY will pass them, just like in Nascar. Well, here comes VR (me) zigzagging making numerouse lane changes and sqeezing up towards the front. After several minutes, I finally get up to the front and zipped by them going 10mph faster, 75 on my speedo. A few seconds later, I hear a whoop whoop and looked over my left shoulder and saw the motorpatrol officer using a hand motion for me to slow down. So I did one of these  but still kept up a pace a bit faster than the cops so I ended up with some good separation.

I did this on purpose because I was just testing the waters with the cops on motorycycles here in Vegas. As suspected, they are very cool, I have never been stopped when I have been going a tad fast. There main purpose on bikes here in Vegas is to write tickets and respond to accidents.

So what if I got a ticket? Well, it would have cost me $50 to get a traffic lawyer, and it gets reduced to a parking ticket, another $15. No points, no court, no record of it on my driving record, no traffic school, insurance won't know. Just $65 out of pocket.

But isn't that ILLEGAL?:D Just ribbing you bro! I'm glad they they aren't real dicks about a couple miles an hour.

I know what you mean...Nobody EVER passes the cops around here.
At least the cops there seem pretty cool.

Do it on one wheel and see what happens. You will end up like Danny with the helicoptors at work after you ice down your bike and quickly dry it, saying "who, what, me?

I've heard many stories about vegas. I hear they don't even bother people for wheelies, as long as your doing it in a parking lot or somewhere off the streets. if thats true then the world should follow suit.

I've been behind CHP cars on the bay area freeways who were doing a few under the limit. All the other cars go the same speed but the way I see it if he wants to go slow that's fine, but I'm not gonna wait. I just make sure I'm not blatantly speeding and wave as I pass by.

Well where I work, there certainly is no shortage of helicopters, 19 right out the door to be exact.

Where do you get this magical lawyer for $50? Do you do them favors with helicopter rides when they're late to a court date? :)

There are tons of traffic lawyers, all they do is fix speeding tickets. I'ts a very lucrative business for them if they have a lot of tickets to fix. This is just the way it's done here in this town. Otherwise, we would have no taxi or limo drivers. Fortunately, I haven't had a ticket in Vegas for about seven years.

Can your attorney connection fix my speeding ticket for $50
I guess thats one of the perks in living in the Sin City.
Cheers.

I just got a ticket from a motorpatrol. 50 in a 30. Absolutely ridiculous, the road is four lanes wide. I lost track of my speed (it was downhill) and he pulled me over. I thought he might have been cool about it, but he was a dick. I never got a ticket before, and he wasn't hearing it. Total BS.

Wow Vegas! I had no idea that there is so much leeway regarding traffic tickets, laws, etc., in LV. "Fix" a traffic ticket so it's reduced to a "parking" ticket? Wow! I like the year-round firework superstores in Pahrump and other outlying areas of NV. Prostitution still legal (s/b everywhere IMO), gambling, 24 hour bar action, what's not to like? Too bad there's no longer no speed limit though. Does Montana still have it?

Ticketassassin.com? Maybe it's worth fighting? If you lose, I hope you can do traffic school to get a off your record. I know how these petty traffic tickets suck! How much is going to be the fine (if you don't contest it)?

"Pace Cars." I like that. Well, I like the name... hate the game.

I will always pass cops that are doing less than 5 over. I will pass slowly and as soon as I'm out of their line of sight I resume "normal operating speeds." It hasn't failed me yet.

The "pace cars" (great name!) here in Utard will drive 5-10 mph below the speed limit, which is fine with me, but then the fu*^&$^%ing idiot in front of me will get in the passing lane... and not pass! No amount of horn honking or light flashing will dislodge these idiots, and I think the cop enjoys it, it has gone on for miles.
I'm sorry, but there's no "public service" in causing a huge backup on the Interstate and giving everyone a justified dose of road rage.

I think I'm going to fight it, I have a clean record so it might work. They do offer the classes to wipe it off, but the class is $100, and the ticket is $80. Total racket.

But how much will a ticket up your insurance? I'm betting more than $20 and it'll be for more than one year. At least that's how it is for me.

I just got my 1st ticket in 25 years a few weeks ago for doing 75 in a 65. The fine is $160.00. If I want to go to traffic school, I have to pay for the school and I also have to pay an additional fee of $35.00 just to go to traffic school. This dang ticket is going to cost me in excess of $200.00 for doing a measley 10MPH over the limit. (Actually, I was clocked at 85, but the cop only wrote me up for 75. And as we all know, you can go 85 without even realizing it.) WHAT A DRAG!
