Passed a Cop Today speeding on purpose

... the road is four wide lanes, downhill curve. But posting 30 mph limit on this road is ridiculous. If you saw it you would agree, as a matter of fact, I'm sure that's exactly why they were there.
It's predatory, and that's what I hate more than the ticket itself. Cops hiding on crests, or places that they know people speed due to road conditions is not just unfair. Their job is to ensure safe vehicle operation, not to plunder my pocket.

I believe (this may be state-by-state) that in order for police to use radar on a road to issue tickets, they have to do a study of the average traffic speed to show that this road's typical usage isn't way above the speed limit (which would imply the speed limit is too low). This prevents them from setting an unrealistically low limit and nailing every single driver. But 30 on a 4-lane sure does sound slow...

NY doesn't record out of state Speeding violations unless you have a CDL.

That's good to know. I'm going to court in Jersey for going the wrong way on a one-way street. Fort Lee traffic is a zoo, and their court seems to be a true money maker. I got about two dozen letters from lawyers offering to represent me. I hope this place isn't a killing zone.

The infraction is two points and I don't know the fine. But the cop seemed to imply he would bargain off the points. Maybe NY wouldn't record the points anyway?
