Oil Drain Valve?

So I have read horror stories about stripped oil pan threads...

This past weekend the guys and I had a bike maintenance get together at my garage. Apparently a gorilla put my drain plug in at the factory, and my buddy cracked his GSXr 600s oil pan. I am strongly contemplating a drain valve now. Anyone had any experience with them on our bikes?

I'd worry about tampering by passerby. If you do it, make sure that it's not going to scrape on the road, and that nobody can open it and drain your oil as a joke.

If your doing you own oil changes, once it's cracked loose (from the factory) just snug it up by hand (tight enough so it doesn't vibrate loose), and it'll be easy to remove after that. As stated above, someone can mess with a drain valve easily.

Don't do it.

Torque up your oil drain plug to the correct setting and fit a new washer every time. At the very worst you'll need to helicoil the thread in the unlikely event you do strip it.

Don't over tighten it, and don't go the wrong direction when you undo it!
