Hey guys,

Well I'm looking at an FZ6 for this season end/for fun. Not quite sure what I want yet, so I've been reading and reading trying to figure out if this will fit me, which I'm sure it would.

I've had 2 bikes: a 1999 Katana, and a 2000 CBR600 F4

All gone now, trying to be a "family man" since I just had my first baby girl a few months ago. Partly for fun because I miss it, partly for an investment purpose.. looking to get another bike. I've always been a gearhead for cars, and a few years ago switched to motorcycles. I do like variety, so if I can find a good deal on a nice bike, then I'd love to snatch it up. I'll fix up and maintain what I can.. and maybe next season I'll sell it for a profit, and change bikes again... unless I love this one and don't do it :)

I'm mainly looking into any pro's and cons of the FZ6, and what to look for. This would be my first "partially naked" bike, so I'm not sure what to expect. I have been trolling the forums for a week or so just reading up on possible mods, possible problems, and general how to's etc to see if there are any "tricks".

The only thing I've thought of are: putting on full fairings... worth it or not, and how to? I kind of like/hate the naked look.. so I would most likely not do a thing for until next season unless I get time or have a spurt of confidence to work in the winter :)

Lower fairings are not sold in the US, so that may be a problem. Have you looked at the FZ6R? It has the full fairings.

Oooh, I saw some pictures of people converting them. Well then no worries. I thought about the FZ6R but price wise since they're so "hot" a comparable price to what I'm getting is at least $2,000 more... so forget that! :) Part of me finding good deals on bikes, there's almost never a good deal around here for an R6 that isn't beaten, salvaged, or something is funky...

I am not looking for anything in particular. I don't like cruisers, so I guess it's "the look" of the bike. I used my other bikes to commute to work 50% of the time, and the rest would be for fun to go out with friends, run short errands.

Ultimate goal was to make it to the track eventually, but I have never had the time (nearest track is a good 1- 1.5 hrs ride). I much liked my other two bikes for their "more upright" position than say.. a GSX-R which made my wrists and neck hurt after 30-40 mins ride (my friends and I do swap bikes for fun).

Have also looked at SV 650's but I think I like the FZ6 more. Also like the look of older fireblades, but being 10 years older and most of the time almost as expensive.. I might as well get a newer bike. I don't need 150hp, but the Katana was honestly a little underpowered and overweight... I still liked it :)
