I would shoot some penetrating oil into the lock cylinder. Use the straw/wand and really get it into the tumblers.

Hit it a few times over the course of a day. When you insert the key to try it, insert the key wet with penetrating oil. Insert and remove a few times before trying to turn the key. Then give it a go.

I've had penetrating oil in it, using the straw, for over 24 hours. Followed by compressed air to force it into the nether reaches...as well as spraying the pin side. I'm starting to think it's the wrong key, as it doesn't even budge any more now than before, and the previous owner doesn't remember. Since the assembly has the special break away bolts, there's no way I can fathom to remove it, but hopefully someone out there might. Can understand why that might not be common knowledge.

Hey everyone,

Long time forum lurker (Even before I bought my FZ6) but a fresh member. Started visiting the forums as soon as I started dreaming about the FZ6. So probably 7-8 years of ocasional digging around in here just looking at forum members rides and dreaming of a brighter future.
I have been dreaming of motorcycles since I was 6 or 7. I'm 30 now, live in Lithuania and work in IT. Was always been discouraged by my mom (and often by my now wife) from taking up this passion. It's dangerous they said. It's unpractical they said (we only get like 5-6,5 moths of rideable weather here without freezing). But the dream lived on and I felt I can't put this off anymore so I passed my motorcycle license course. That was around 3,5 years ago. Time to buy the coveted fizer? Well.... no. Having a wedding and buying a home made sure the motorcycle dream was pushed further into the future ( I'm not complaining, my wife and home are wonderful and really make me whole).
So a year ago I finally made the dream come true. With the blessing of my lovely wife I bought a 26,5k mile 2005 faster blue FZ6 and it was even better than I have ever dreamed of.
Was really lucky finding a mint option with a lot of aftermarket goodies: exhaust, belly pan, puig double bubble windscreen, a lighter supersprox rear sprocket, really good quality brake and clutch levers, quality grips.
Put on 3125 miles on it in 6 months, had my first 500 mile trip and I was smiling for EVERY SINGLE MILE I did.
Started learning working on it and found out one more passion in life. Mounted heated grips, changed all the fluids, serviced the brakes, rebuilt the forks (one was staring leaking just slightly), mounted a USB charger into the cowling, did electrical work so that the grips and charger only work when the bike is on, repacked the swingarm bearings, replaced the steering head bearings (the old geezer still had the factory ones in) and probably some other stuff.

Attaching some photos of a dream come true. The first few are when I bought it. Some more for the good times I had with it in those 6 months.

From a family of motorcyclists and been riding since I was 14 (of course not on the road officer!).
Had a break for a good few years. And now I'm back!
Have a Honda Grom for fun, and just picked up an immaculate 6k mile late 2009 FZ6 S2 ABS last weekend.
The Fazer is now currently in lots of bits in the garage while I spend probably far too much money on it making it sexier

ABS on bikes over 125cc became compulsory in the EU in 2016. Having said that, my 2021 Grom has ABS on the front.
So I'm guessing some manufacturers saw the writing on the wall and started fitting early as a option, an expensive one no doubt

Hello from Southern California. I have a S1. had for about 2.5 years now. Its been sitting for over a year and a half. I just went and bought some new parts for it on ebay; S2 Swing arm, Michelin Pilot Road 2, and a Tail Tidy, I also picked up a extra set of S1 fairins today localy. got a steal on it so couldnt pass it up. I droped my bike at a stand still and theres a hairline crack on the right side. I was going to fix it than found this extra set. Ill fix both and do 2 different color schemes for it that way I can have different clothes once in awhile. I would love to get a set of s2 fairings for a 3rd set. Anyone have a set for the low let me know. I got into riding in 2005. I started with pocket bikes. little 50cc. Life happens and fast forward to 2017. Bought a used honda ruckus fell in love with 2 wheels again and decided to fully mod the ruckus. Ended up with 3 ruckuses at one time. Than I found out about the yamaha Zuma 125cc. Bought one and fell in love with that thing than ended up with 3 of those. Found the little brother to the zuma 125 the 50cc carbureted version with no title. I couldnt help it and bought that thing never ran it once its still in storage. Than Bought my first motorcycle which was a KTM 390 Duke 2015. Had it for 2years than sold it. I also owned a 1993 CBR 900rr that was a barn find. I ended up giving that away (Worst decision of my life) I had so many bikes and no room left. I than I finally rode a friends s1. I was like this thing is smoother than my single cylinder 390 Duke. and way more power. The riding position was what sold me. Its the best of both world. Sport + Comfort =) I was looking up something and I found this Forum. So here I am. How yall doing.. LOL. Just some photos to share. EU version have the best color Scheme. For some reason us folks in the the U.S.A. get the ugly all black out S2. I love the silver frame, silver rear swing arm, and silver front forks and rims. It gives it such a nice bling factor. I bought an S! just for the silver factor ,but I really dislike the cowling and bulky rear swing arm of the S1. I just bought a S2 swing arm to slap on my S1.

Hi, I'm Donna, new member from Kent, WA. I should have joined years ago but just never did. I have a beautiful red 2007 FZ6. My husband and I enjoyed many trips together for years. (He had an FZ1). Sadly he passed away last year. I miss those trips big time! But I don't want to give up on riding. Thing is, I have a new member of my family, Greta, 1 yr old German Shepherd mix. We do everything together and in my dreams I've tried to figure out a way to take her on my bike. Well, I recently came across the coolest thing! I'll post pics below. A carrier for large dogs! I'd love to give this a try. But since the back end of the FZ6 isn't real big they suggested I get some sort of a luggage rack like in the pic shown, with several contact points on the bike for support. It should work great then. I would love to hear from any of you who have a similar rack or any other suggestions for me. I'm super nervous to give it a try, but really really want to take my girl with me! If Jess with goruffly.com can do it then so can I!! Thanks ahead of time!!

Hey guys! Thought I posted here previously but it must have slipped my mind... My name is Steven and I live in the Central Coast area of California. 2005 FZ6 is my first bike ever. Got her about 8 months ago but really started riding around January (Car was in the shop, had to get to work somehow lol). Love this bike so far! Was definitely a heavy SoB as a starter bike but she was gentle with me and has shown me the ways haha

Have done a few things since purchasing:

• New front/rear sprockets and chain
• Ebay special catback exhaust
• Baby's first moto oil change
• Bought an R1 shock here but waiting to get it re-valved
• Hopefully getting my hands on a Corbin seat soon from a member as well

Aside from that, I'm looking around for some replacement front fairings as the previous owner dropped her on the left side and cracked the fairing in some places as well as ruined some of the screw mounts

Thanks! Don't worry, it has been pretty cold in the mornings (in the 30s) so it wasn't super peachy but with the right gear (as I soon learned) it's been manageable haha
