Hi to all (y'all to those in the US south),
My name is Robert from North Carolina and I have a very cool blue 07 FZ6. This is my very first bike or second if you want to count the one with the lawn mower engine that I had when I was eight.
I took a MSF course earlier this summer and now I'm doing the MF course as a daily commute to work. There are no mods on this bike except me. All my extra cash has been put into gear, however I see a lot of smart people are on this site and my wallet is starting to levitate...

:welcome: to the forum Robert. Wise choice on spending your extra dough on riding gear. That's where most of my cash goes for riding expenses...except of course those damn tires I keep going through. :spank:
Ride safe!

Geez, I could write a book here but I'll try not to.

Todd from San Jose, CA. Please don't hold the California part against me.

I've been riding street bikes for over 31 years now, gone through everything from 70's Yamaha two strokes to a Kawi Concours. Last bike was an '07 Ninja 250 that I used for commuting mainly. It's got 47k miles on it now and it really needs some love, so I decided to look for a new bike.

My other three bikes right now besides the FZ and the Ninja are a 2008 WR450, a 2010 YZ250, and my nearly vintage bike, a 1981 Honda XL500. Just started racing off road and have been dual sport riding for about three years.

So on to the FZ6. My local dealer, San Jose Yamaha, had a slightly used (read crashed, but not totalled) 05 FZ6. I've bought a few other bikes from them in the past few years so when the owner said he could rebuild it for me and make it almost new I took him up on the offer. Their service department is top-notch so I was anticipating a great outcome.

The guys didn't disappoint! Mike rolled this bike out and all I could say was "Yeehaw!" It has 11k miles on it so it's not "perfect" but it's darn close.

I've taken the last few days to personalize the bike setting up the controls, etc. to fit me and I'm almost done. Need to add a few farkles like grip heaters and Fiamme Freeway Blaster horns and I'm ready to rock.

Of course I'll have a few questions here and there, but I also have a boatload of experience. I'm an Equipment Engineer for a medical device manufacturer, but I have also worked as a machinist, aircraft mechanic, carpenter, tool salesman, bicycle mechanic... My point is I have some skills and knowledge to offer as well.

I'm looking forward to my experience here.

Oh yeah, does anyone have an old, dead fuel pump sitting around that I could buy the fuel level sender off of? I know, I'll check the For Sale section, too.

Howdy, I'm a new 2007 FZ6 owner, having gone several hours into Wisconsin to buy and ride back to Illinois "Blue," on a cold, windy, and rainy day. Did I mention hail?

My wife and I live in far-north Illinois, near Gurnee, and we took the MSF course for our seventh anniversary on June 22nd, 2011.

On July 1st I picked-up an 85 Honda 700S and proceeded to put about 2500 miles on it in a fit and frenzy for my new-found therapy.

That was after three weeks of down-time going over the bike and until September 29th when I brought Blue home.

I was a little obsessed, spending as many hours sitting next to the running bike "just to hear it run" as I did parking-lot practice (every single night for an hour, bar none), commuting, and pleasure riding (is there any other kind?)

That includes ALL weather; I have yet to be stalled by anything mother-nature has thrown at me, including the recent winds and rain (like last night and today.)

In any case, Here are some picks of Blue in full battle-dress.

And, to be frank, as I quoted my wife just tonight upon returning home, it's a close second to sex. A REAL close second... ;)

Been enjoying all the information and insights here, and though I am not a prolific forum participant, I have a mechanical gift I will hopefully have the chance to share with someone, someday.

Ride safe!

Well, I have been in the shadows for a few months now so I guess I'll go ahead and chime in.

My name is Robert and I'm originally from Miami Florida. I moved to Lakeland FL about 6 years ago for a job opportunity. I'm married (celebrating 3 years) in September and have a 14 m/o son.

I don't currently own a bike and initially joined these forums for inside information once I decided the FZ6 was the bike I wanted. In college I helped my roommate purchase a yellow 1998 Honda Superhawk from another classmate. In return he taught me to ride and let me take it for a spin whenever I wanted / it was available. I fell in live with them from that moment and unfortunately let myself get talked out of one back in 2005 where I opted instead to buy a new car.

Fast forward to this year. I had planned on purchasing a brand new 2009 Yamaha FZ6 from the local dealer here as a birthday present. My son had to have surgery and due to the type of procedure he required, multiple specialists were involved. One of the specialists did not accept monthly payments and what insurance didn't cover we had to pay in full. Seeing how this was a no brainer decision, we used the money I saved up for purchase.
My son is doing just fine, there was absolutely issues with the procedure and you can barely even see the incision scar anymore.

So.. I have been basically living vicariously through you all. :) Until next year that is, God willing, I finally have one of my own.

In short, hi.

In short, hi.

Robert! I'm quite familiar with Lakeland, I've flown down a couple times this year, in January to record drums on a good friend's album and May to play his cd release show.
Do you know Kathleen Baptist Church down there right beside the big Methodist church? The pastor Mark is my friends father.

Every time I fly down I wish I had my bike for those wide open, sweeping roads.

Oh, and :welcome:

Hello to everyone.
I'm Petar and I come from Croatia.
Fazer fz6 from 2005y is in my hands almost two years; till now I had one crash/year, hahaha. Thank God, both of them were without fractures. I'm proud owner of such beautifull bike. :)
I'm 29 years old, and luckily married.

Like most of the wifes my did also tampered me to sell the bike. But now she understood that when the day for selling this bike comes it will also be the day when new bike would arrive hahaha.

Currently I'm fixing parts from my last crash... Luckily Croatia has beautifull coast where you can go and ride bike almost through whole year. :D

Hello everyone, my name is Nick and I'm from Virginia. I have been riding for about four years. I'm looking into getting an FZ6 to kinda bash around on as a second bike. My current Bike is a 2007 R6S that I love and ride everyday. I bought her new and she's coming up on 30,000 miles. Never the slightest problem with her and she gets treated to only the best fluids and parts. Recently put some Fren Tubo Carbotech brake lines on and wow they feel awsome. Anyways I will be hanging around on here. Here are some pics of the bike...

Hi all,

Just picked up my first "big bike" on Saturday...2008 Fazer, dark blue with the after market lower fairing and a touring screen plus a Yamaha top box. Only 3,600 miles on it (well...when I picked it up - now another 150 miles!).

Needs a bit of clean (only cosmetic) - next weekend - and then I'll stick up a pic.

Based in London, England but looking to do a bit of a European trip next spring so I'll be following the touring threads closely!

Cheers!

Hey everyone, i'm Carl and i'm from west sussex uk, got a 2005 fz6 3 months ago but was sadly wiped out by a woman while carrying my 11yr old lad on the back, getting fed up with my insurance company so just bought a s2 2008 and waiting for it to be delivered. no pic of new bike yet but have a pic of my bent one, oh and i also own a hooned up lambretta. top tip of the day? tell your insurance company to stick their 100k legal cover up their ass, they will only appoint a no win no fee brief and will make a grand out of the introduction to boot, oh and 5hey will screw you if you try and change, save yourself the extra cost.
