New member welcome thread..

Botch, the fender design is different, for sure. I think it's all done for looks. In the Beemer world they refer to the upper one as the beak. It's only on the GS models, which is their version of an all-around bike. I use it on gravel a lot, and it handles it well, as it does the pavement.

Mikenbern, does that mean you don't like my red one? :) Yeah, I like the silver FZ6's too. Thanks.

Hello All

Hello All,

My name is Matt. I'm from Atlanta, GA. I'm an OIF 4 veteran, still a full-time soldier with the Georgia National Guard. I'm still working on my undergrad in Christian Ministry.

I've got an '05 FZ6.

Looking forward to learning from everybody.

Hi there,

I am a new rider just got my FZ6 on Saturday, and I must say it is an absolute peach of a bike as it has excellent all round ability.

I think this bike is great for the new rider, who has done the correct training through a UK Class A Motorcycle license (unrestricted).

I have trained on a GS500 with a professional trainer, who recommended me the FZ6.

In response to the article referencing 600cc bikes as not recommended to novice riders:

The Fazer gives you the choice to kill yourself, just like a knife can be used to kill people or a tool for cooking. My opinion is that it all depends on the mentality of the rider, and attitudes of responsibility that the rider chooses.

Nutcake

new newbie

Hi all,
I am a new FZ6 owner and a new rider as well. I bought a 2007 (slower red model) in May. Up until then I had only ridden a neighbor's dirt bike as a kid (I just turned 40) and had never been on a street bike. I really got lucky on my choice of bikes because I knew nothing about them. I went with Yamaha just because of my experience with their ATV's and picked the FZ6 just because of looks and feel on the showroom floor. Of course, since then, I have read everything I could find on the bike and found I made the perfect choice for me. My only regret is that I didn't wait until October for the new rocket speed cobalt blue model (I will not trade, I will not trade, I will not trade...). I've had some great rides so far, including the Dragon and have put about 3800 on it. Right now I'm just waiting on the new to wear off so I can actually get some things accomplished again. It's taking an awfully long time.

Greetings,

My name is Brendan Concannon. I indulge myself in physiology, professional cooking, literature, music, art and motorcycling. I've studied kinesiology, anatomy, mind sciences and exercise. I have a certificate for Culinary Arts, which was granted to me by SAIT (Southern Albertan Institute of Technology), after enrolling in a two-year diploma practicum.

In my spare time, I enjoy contributing script towards my latest project, "Wardread's Chariot." I prefer fantasy, science fiction, horror and romance. In other views, a popular declaration about my literature involves cyberpunk, violence and inflaming pornography. There have been instances when I've been accused of being mentally enraged, but I assure you, I've conducted less harm than any angel has ever. My inspiring authors are Peter S. Beagle, Richard Adams and Kodayu.

I have several musical flavors, but the majority includes Trance & Techno, Coral Electronic and Classic. The best albums/artists are ATB, DJ Tatana (Neon Lights), Jesper Kyd (Hitman) and Tangerine Dream (Legend).

My preference for art includes prints that are hand-inked and digitally colored. Although I’m no artist myself, I pay large amounts of money for non-original media. My favored artists are JayAxer, Kodayu, Nek0gami, Tetsuo Hara, Akira Toriyama and Todd McFarlane. If you are an aspiring artist that is willing to take commissions, please contact me at [email protected] and convince me with your finest work.

My history of motorcycles began with brotherly love. There was no synapse between my brother and me, especially because of our oppositional interests. He was mechanical and I was biological. The only variant between these pursuits was motorcycling; the perfect combination of humankind and machines. He dared to train himself with questionably legal and secure techniques.

In time, he helped me purchase my first motorcycle. It was a Blue 1984 Honda VF 1000 (pictures can be found on my website). After dreadful training for one year, I sold it for a brand new 2006 FZ6. The dealer only had six red ones available at the time; therefore it’s been seemingly impossible for me to avoid the infernal red colors I now wear. I’ve posted a wallpaper of exactly what it currently resembles on this site.

I prefer to leave the speeding and stunting to my stories. There was one incident where I received a speeding ticket for doubly speeding in a 60 zone, but I was able to legally reduce that fine by half within court. I always regret what I do.

Thank-you for reading.

Hey there fellow owners and riders. My name is Jeff. I live in Gilbert, AZ, and I am a proud first time owner of a blue 2007 FZ6.
I just went through my MSF class with TEAM AZ, bought the bike that same week, and this past weekend went for my first long (200 mile) ride!
Just wanted to say hi!
