Just wanted to stop by and say hi,....HI, also I will be looking at an 05 FZ6 tomorrow and was hoping for some tips as to what should I be double inspecting before making the purchase, thanks for your time :rockon:

Alright,

If you’re getting it from a dealer check the TCP was swapped out (warranty issue) and the front sprocket if still on original OEM had the locking nut sorted (Warranty issue).
Some people have had premature wear in head stock bearings.
Some FZ6 make a ticking / tapping noise from about 3-4K this is normal.
Recently there have been a few frame failures when the bike has been dropped hard. Check for cracks where the frame sliders are installed.
There are a few other minor things but nothing major springs to mind. I have a 2005 and it is still going like a rabbit on Viagra.

private sale but the guy said he bought it from a dealer 18 months ago so I hope all this stuff was taken care of but will ask and what is TCP, thanks for your input

Sorry my bad (typo) I meant TPS (throttle position sensor). It causes erratic idle and stalling. Basically some TPS units were bad and caused rough running.
There is a sticker under the seat with a unique number on it. You can give any Yamaha dealer that number and they can check to see if the work was carried out.
