Hey all!

I just bought my first FZ6. It's a 2007, has upgraded fork springs and front brake pads. SS braided lines for the front brakes. Just put a scorpion exhaust on, and a puig race shield!

Here are a few photos!

Welcome to the forum!

Best year and color bike!!

When I ordered my Scorps years ago, I asked specifically for the tips you have but got the angled, flat ends (I like yours better).

Polish that header!! You have some eye candy there that's waiting to gleam!

How did you get your headers so clean? I tried using mothers polish and a rag, I did half of one and was exhausted. Did you use a buffer?

A good way is to wet sand it with 800 grit, then 1000, and maybe even a few more finer grits, then use mothers polish and it should come out shiny!!! [emoji3]

Thanks! Is both grit necessary? Can I just use 800? This will be my first time doing this kind of thing so I'm a bit concerned that I don't know what I'm doing but excited for new experiences!

Here is a before and after of what I just did. Wet sand with 1000 and then some mother polish. Takes some elbow grease and I wish I would have gone with the 800 first since my headers were really dirty. The lower grit will help get more dirt and pitting off but leave bigger scratches. U use the 1000 grit to smooth out the scratches and then the polish does the rest of the work. U can just do a 1000 which is what I normally do to maintain stuff, but if u have time start with a lower grit and go to a really fine grit and the results will be like a mirror.

II used Mothers, a micro cloth and one of those balls you put in your drill motor that's slings the cleaner all over the place...

NO sanding...

Mine was nasty too when I got the bike used (4,500 miles) but not quite as bad as yours...

Yeah you can use the polish ball and a drill too. I've always wet sanded whenever I polish something.

I should have also thrown this in the intro, but I also own a RD350 which I built! Here are some pictures and if you want to see the full build thread I'll put a link to it!

Build:

My First Build = RD350 Cafe

And how she is sitting right now... I'm doing another full rebuild with porting and bigger carbs, front end swap and a new tank and seat piece!

She is currently at my friends house in Washington and he's helping me out while I'm away from home! He has some updated pictures so when I get them I can keep ya posted!

My very FIRST street bike was a 1975, bright orange RD 350. Pretty quick lil bike for the day!!

Unfortunately, an old man made a left in front of me, and totaled the bike and tore me up bad (19 years old at the time in 1977)

I'd love to have an restored one or RZ350 with the bumble bee paint job!!

And finally polished! I don't know
If you can tell by the picture but it really is mirror like!

Yeah! My friend has an rz350 with the yellow paint scheme and he just got an rz500!! Thing is pretty badass! He's still working on it though, but the thing is going to be cool! I love the old Yamaha 2 strokes. My brother built an rd400 that turned out really awesome too! He got it dynoed and it was pulling 58hp! Crazy with how small and light it is!
