Since it only had 350 miles when you purchased it, the first owner probably didn't take it in for the 600 mile service (1000KM), which should, I have been told, include checking the torque on a number of fasteners/bolts.

I really don't know how well this is accomplished at most dealers, but you might consider it.

Great choice of bikes, I might add.

The only comment I can add is to beware of what you put under the seat and where you put it. It gets mighty warm under there especially towards the rear of the bike due to the location of the exhaust. Don't ask how I know .

I have had my 2006 since it had 3,500 miles on it and it is approaching 19,000 now. Loving every minute of it!

Got the bike in for service yesterday.

Coolant and brake fluids replaced (oil was replaced when I bought it)
Battery replaced
Cables, Hoses, Chain inspected and lubed
Bolts and Fastners all checked for torque
Brakes and Clutch inspected

Mechanic said everything looked good on it, and that it was ready to go. I felt good riding it before, and now I feel even better. Great peace of mind.

Frame sliders will be here early next week, and that should do it - for now.

Thanks for all the advice. I felt better going in to the shop knowing what all I wanted to get done to it.

Now if I could just find a better helmet. Had a 3/4 Fulmer the past 2 years, but I want a full face now. Tried the Shoei RF1000 (on sale for $250 which is my limit) at home for the past few days, but it pinches my ears. I don't think the ear section has a large enough opening. Not comfortable. The size down was way to small and a size up was to loose. Hmmm.... Looks like I know what I'll be researching today.

I would also check the tires for cracks or dry rot if it has been sitting for a while. Have fun and don't forget to give us a ride report :thumbup:

Glad you are going to get a full face helmet. Much safer.
I bought a Shoei RF-1000 because it fit my oval head better, most other brands pinched me at my forehead. Sounds like you need a more round shaped helmet. (My husband found that Scorpion fit him well.) Look at reviews and see which brand is better for your shape, then find a shop in your area that carries that brand so you can try them on.
