My new KTM project!

Well here she is i met up with the guy right after i got off work and for 88 model im really impressed with just how clean the bike is also the fact that seeing it with my own eyes i would never guess it was that old the design of the bike looks alot more modern like late 90s modern. Apperently KTM was ahead of the game, it is a single cylinder 4 valve 600. Not only is it 4 valve but it actually has two exhaust ports, on a thumper! Ive never sceen anything like that. All the plastics are in great shape along with just about everything else. Someone really took care of this thing, but unfortunately for the last 18 months it was neglected and wont fire. So first thing im going to do is pull the carb and go through it.

Sounds like fun. BTW Japanese bike had two exhaust ports back in the 80's.

Thats pretty cool its new to me, ive never sceen anything like it. I cant wait to get this bad boy fired up and hit the steet and the dirt to see just what this 50hp thumper is all about

Sweet, how much did you give for it if you don't mind me asking? I have an old 1984 KDX200 I think I'm going to make a winter project. The bike is too snappy for me (200 2 stroke hauls ass but doesn't cruse very well) with a 7 year old, so I think I''m gonna fix a few things and sell it.

$600 the guy who i bought it from was 57 and was running into some bad luck and needed money. He bought it and about a month after broke his pelvis and couldnt kickstart it. So he never registered it and it sat for while until he decided to let it go. I was wanting a enduro/dual sport bike again and when my friend told me about it i couldnt pass it up!

I once owned a 90 600 LC 4. The bike had some good horse power and was fairly easy to ride. The power comes on quick and can surprise you until you get use to it.

I would always park on top of a hill because mine was a bear to start when it was hot. So rolling down a hill and bump starting became a regular thing.

I bought it in 97 for $3750 and traded in towards a 99 KDX 200. Here in New England the KDX200 was much easier to ride and more forgiving in the super tight, muddy, rocky trails . Of course the KTM could climb any hill without breaking a sweat.

My 2000 640 adv is a 625 cc single w/ two exhaust ports. It rips. Have to kick it over to get it started when it's cold. e-start works when warm.

Yeah I've heard they can be a pain to start. Also I got to thinking about it in looking at it and it the bike originally came from california. It still has a california title because the guy never registered it here in georgia and the title reeds john h holmes. I type that name in google and apparently he is a porn star, so now I can say I have a former celebrities bike kinda sort of.....lol

Well I thought this was going to be a winter project but I'm done...lol she runs like a champ, and wired back up right. And let me tell you what Ive never worked on a carb with so many jets but boy do they pay off when there all spraying right cause this is the baddest thumper I've ever rode, it has a aftermarket pipe and jet kit so that helps but dang I'm impressed. Already got insurance and next week I'll get a tag and some new supermotard tires, maybe, or I might go back to a street knobby but all I have to say is wow
