So i figured i have been putting off losing weight for long enough. Every year i say im gonna do it. I lose 10 pounds and forget about the whole thing... this year has gotta be different. I have always wanted to get a kayak, i have been canoeing, but never kayaking. So i went out and bought one after Christmas... Its pretty sweet. 10 foot, sit on top with a backrest. but one problem... It has a max weight of 250... I am 275... So thus comes in my "MUST LOSE WEIGHT" issue... i figured i have already spent a few hundred dollars + on the kayak, vest and gear. Now i HAVE to do it.

My way of a great incentive.

Also, i love to mountain bike, i have tried to get my wife into it as well. I bought her a cheap bike and she hated it, so i finally bit the bullet and went out and got her a nice bike too (Trek, like mine), and a bike rack so we can go more often.

(dont mind the mess, its in the basement, we just painted and are in the middle of cleaning stuff up for new furniture)

I'm on a quest to lose 10 to 15 pounds myself. Trying to get back into basketball shape. It's going to be a rough road cause I hate running but it's a necessity being that I'm in the military.

I will be in better shape for 2010.

my problem is i hate ALL fruit and veg..i just simply gag on the stuff..but my deep fried lifestyle has caught up on me..i got reflux ..which apparently has something to do with some flap not closing and causing all sorts of nasty side effects,my wake up call was xmas day when i brought up a load of bile and a heap of blood ..the doctors (my father in laws) advice..no more fatty or spicy food,no caffine and no carbonated drinks..including beer for the forseeable future.

ive always kept in physical shape but now my cards have been forced..most deffinatley for the better

Oh and as i side note my sig for next year will be "sod the PCIII and the 15T sprocket ..loosing wheight, the best mod i ever made to my bike"..haha

I have never been one for New Year's Resolutions.
But a few weeks ago, my doctor says I should lose 10 pounds,
so I am going to be working on it for this new year, too.
Good luck to us all!! :wav:
And OP, NICE kayak and bike!!!

Good call on the kayak. We've got a couple of them and use them on the Swan River in Perth. Really works your upper body. Great workout!

I could lose about 25 lbs. I eat too much fast food. And drink beer. And I like candy. Lose that 25 lbs. and I could probably move around better on the bike.

Try this:
NutriMirror

It's a FREE support site and it works. No magic pills or special food, just a realistic approach to changing habits in diet and exercise.
that looks cool.. i actually am using "lose it" for iphone... its pretty much the same idea, log your height weight and age, give it a starting weight and goal, and how much you want to lose per week and it tells you how many cal's you can eat per day. Then you log how much you are eating and it tells you how many you have remaining and such... very effective.

Yea, you got it; losing weight makes the bike faster and it's a cheaper mod and works out for you and the bike.

One of my secrets to staying (relatively at least) thin is that my wife doesn't really cook much. So I kind of suffer in a way and I have to eat simple things like oatmeal and bran cereal (which I buy because it's easy to snack on and you don't have to cook it).

I think eating is really overrated -- there's lots more to do other than eat. Sometimes I get annoyed that I actually have to stop and eat -- what a pain in the butt. But if I don't eat, I feel weak -- it sucks to be human huh?

It's really annoying how I sometimes go out to dinner with somewhat wealthy folks and all they want to eat is steak -- I guess because it's high end or what not. Well ya know? I love a good steak too but I know that too much of that shi* can screw you up too. Sometimes I order a steak too just to be part of the crowd and end up giving away most of it because "I'm just too full".

After a meal, it was good meal when I get up and feel nourished and ready to kick butt and do what I want to do. A bad meal is when I cannot even get up or I feel bloated. I went on this diet one time that had one rule "don't get full". It worked and I'm not sure I lost weight but I sure felt better. I just don't buy into the 1/2 the fat stuff that cost twice the price. I figure if I want 1/2 the fat, then eat 1/2 the food. Better to enjoy a lot something small. If it ain't that good, I ain't wastin' my calories on it either.
