Hey everybody, just a quick update on some more custom mods.
First of all, I finally went full monty – installed the VS-1 kit:
Installed these mirrors.
The old post about the undertail, FE, and chain guard is here:

I decided to try make a sturdier radiator guard, so I drew one up in Adobe Illustrator and had a local shop laser-cut the part from 16-gauge steel:
Here’s the DXF file if anyone is interested: radiatorGuard.dxf
Used the trusty old bench vise again with a wood block and a hammer to do the bends:
Test fit worked out well! A few commutes showed temps running about 10-20°F higher than normal, but still below 200°F:
I made a couple blanks out of aluminum to cover the spots where the fairing used to attach to the frame and got all the parts powder coated:
Close-up of one of the blanks:
No, I will not make more of these. The time involved is significant and you can’t afford my hourly rate. :BLAA:
Final guard installed:
I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out. I think she’s finally where I want her to be - no plans for any other mods at this point. Thanks for looking!
