I'd say changing the gearing is the easiest way. It doesn't make the ride harsh, it makes it easier IMO since you have more control and torque.

I have a 15T front sprocket and I like it, feels like there's less strain on the engine.

Another option would be a supercharger, but if you go that far then you might as well just get an FZ1 ;)

Drop sprocket to make it more revvy at the same speed......? Add a supercharger?

Hmmm......neither are mid range torque tweaks, both are revvy peak power tweaks. Torque will increase if peak bhp increases at same or lower rpm, but for the wrong reasons.

Hi.....just introduced myself here: http://www.600riders.com/forum/main...llo-harrogate-north-yorkshire.html#post592168

So i'll try not to 'double up' on the info, but basically, after 15 years out of bikes......im back in with an FZ6N S2 and loving it.

Just done 700 miles in 2 days to cornwall and back, and really pleased with the bike.

My only wish.....is that it had a bit more low down/mid range torque.

I appreciate its a short-stroke block, but still.......any ignition mods which can help?

Here's a pic of the bike, its got Beowulf exhaust, belly pan, and now black mirrors, Puig screen and a 17 tooth front sprocket. :)

Look forward to any help you may have on getting the bottom end torque up.....

Like others have said, going back to stock gearing will fix the issue.

I bought it stock, went +1 because I did that on my 650R kawi twin that
I had before, which resulted in what I wanted, less revs at cruising speeds.
The difference in power delivery was minimal, but noticeable.

However, doing the same on the FZ6 made a HUGE difference.
The stock geared bike would wheelie on power in 1st, and jump up again
when I shifted to second - there's NONE of that happening with 17T now.

For a 600cc bike, compared to a ninja 650, the FZ6 feels like it's a 400cc
bike. Going for +1 up front made it feel like I lost another 50 or so cc,
and a lot of power everywhere.

The bike basically can't go over 85mph in some situations in 6th (windy
uphill corner), and even on a straight road I've sometimes seen it stop at
100-105mph in 6th.

Sure, you can drop a gear and it'll get to 120mph fast, but it's that tall
1st and 2nd gear that are the real issue.

Go on gearingcommander.com and compare the differences in revs vs
speed in 1st and 2nd gear, and to be honest, you do need to use those
a lot on the FZ6 even when traveling. If you want to launch yourself
out of a corner at 40mph, you need to be in 1st with 17T, while with 16T
2nd would do just fine.

All of that stuff I did on my kawasaki in 5th and 6th :D but other then the
torque, the FZ6 is a better bike in every way, no mistake about it.

Put the stock 16T sprocket back on.
It's only 300-350 revs difference in top gear.

That's 62 vs 65mph at 5000 revs (16 vs 17T).
Does it really matter that much?

And no, I don't get lower fuel consumption on mine, which I did on the Kawasaki,
probably because I spend time at the same revs as before, only a gear lower
and in 6th above 70mph those 300 revs don't mean much.

I'll be going back to stock when I change the chain.
