March 2012 Fuel Expenditures

Well spotted Mate, but have a look to the right, and you'll see that was for two fills. (one before, and one after a ride with The Wolfman)

P.S. And yes, after the filler stops, I do actually keep filling, slowly, to try and get as much as possible in - usually another 500ml (or 10kms worth)

Yeah I might give it a try, I normally get around 170 miles on a tank when I fill up at around 10 miles into the reserve, calculation shows that at 45mpg (UK) I could go 35 miles on the reserve, If I filled that extra bit I reckon I could safely go 20 miles into the reserve, would be quite useful...

My totals for the month:

I paid a total of $143.74 for gas.
I filled up a total of 37.926 gallons (I refueled 9 times during March).
The average gas price was $3.7923/gallon.
I put a total of 1,595 miles on the bike during March and 1,552.7 miles counting since the first fill up of the month.

31/03/12 - 341.8kms - 17.86L - $1.629/L - $29.09
27/03/12 - 327.8kms - 17.83L - $1.710/L - $30.49

Brings my totals for March to:

2808.3kms (1745mi) using
145.2L (38.36US gal) at an average of 19.34k/L for
$234.99 ($US242.12!) or 11.95kms/$AU1 (8.36c/km)

Interesting to note, that based on Fuelly, if I had used MY car (Daihatsu Terios), instead of the bike, it would have cost me (using an average price of fuel of $1.59/L) $366 or in the Missus' car (Toyota Rav4) $460.32!

P.S. But at $85 per 5000km service, I 'spent' $47.75 on the service, bringing my totals a lot closer. ($282.74) and then if we consider I get much less than half the distance out of a set of tyres, and the tyres and more than twice as expensive, than for my car - the difference is a lot smaller again.

I should work it out one day, but I really don't think the bike is saving me anything! (except my sanity, from being locked up in a cage, on the freeway, at peak hour....)

Ok i lost all my receipts and my bit of paper on how much i had spent ¬¬. I am useless. I do Remember it saying £153.xx the last time i checked and that was just before the end of the month, and i didnt fill up again. So that is my final cost for March. Not to bad

In my local garage unleaded is £1.42 and diesel £149.9

Indeed it was an awesome month: riding mostly everyday to work, a couple of trips to bike week and some random trips around.
I think this has been the month I rode the bike the most since I got it (2 years ago) but only this year I've been keeping track of all the miles monthly.

On the other hand I've traveling this month, so not even one mile yet
