Ok, i read lots of posts from different people on here about what are some good cheap mod's they can do to their trusty steed to make it "better", now whilst the following aint a performance mod, or a comfort mod, they are definitely a preservation mod...in other words, they help you to maintain a good resale value for your pride & joy, with the added benefit of your bike looking just that little bit better than most....
Here are a few examples to start with....
Polish your OEM bolts....the photo below is an OEM FZ6 front brake disc carrier mount bolt....believe it or not....after polish, it looks like a highly polished stainless, or titanium bolt, whatever it looks like, you will have other people looking and wondering.

You can see how crappy that bolt looked before a decent polish in the above photo, but below is an undetailed brake disc....rust spotting developing, and in general, the whole thing looks a bit tired....it's a 2 year old disc with 35000km's of weathert thrown at it!

As you can see in the next 2 photo's, after a couple of hours of sweating and grumbling, your old tired disc can look like this, with polished disc carrier bolts, polished disc fastening discs, and the area of the disc not in contact with brake pads, polished again, including the outer edge of the disc....the difference is even more alarming in real life, these crappy photo's do not do the difference justice. looks better than new! IMHO!

Another thing you can do to keep your bike looking "you beaut", is keep your rear sprocket, and the sides of your chain clean....this has a 2 fold effect, it helps keep grease fling onto your back wheel to a minimum, and secondly, it looks great!

There are many more examples of detailing jobs that improve your bike....
Two things that do make the polishing job's easier...a bench grinder with polishing wheels attached, and a small power drill, with polishing attachments...but in the end, the final polish will always be by hand....
