Longest trip in a day?

After I went for a ride today, I was thinking about the longest ride I've ever done in a single day. My longest ride was from Dayton, Ohio to Wilmington North Carolina which is about 650 miles. It was a long way to ride in a day, but a beautiful one through the Appalachians. Totally worth it! It was amazing to ride through the mountain, small as they may be. The roads were awesome, full of exciting twisting roads.

What your longest trip in a day? How many miles was it? What was the best thing about the trip?

Longest trip in one day that i have done for a long while, was from Adelaide, South Australia, to Phillip Island Island Victoria, in one day, was about 1150km's in one day....14 hours on the bike, including rest stops, etc...

That was a long day! especially on 3 hours sleep, the night before we went!

Pascagoula MS to Akron OH in just under 24 hours (hadn't ever heard of Iron Butt back then or I'd have went for it). My Grandpa passed away and I needed to get home for the funeral.

Most interesting part of the trip - somewhere in Kentucky I stopped at a truck stop in the middle of the night. It was a real truck stop and they even had the coffee counter set up with a truckers only section. When I went in I was pretty much completely spent and since no one was sitting in the non-trucker area I just went and sat in the trucker part of the counter. This earned me some pretty nasty looks from the truckers but after a few minutes and hearing what I was doing they seemed to lighten up and let me sit there. I remember the waitress going over to the coffee pots and kind of starting for one pot and then grabbing a different one. She filled my cup and I sat there & finished it off. I paid my bill & went outside and I swear by the time I got on my bike I was wide a wake and wound up like an 8 day clock.

It may have been mind over matter but I swear she poured my coffee from a "special" trucker coffee pot. Of course this was still the 70's so who knows...

300+, but it was all twisty and mountain passes. Awesome ride, will do it every year. There's a ton of long straight road in WY (marker C) that you can see forever. Great to do repeated top speed runs. Just a long straight black ribbon with grass on both sides as far as the eye can see.

I personally don't think it was mind over matter. I've had some super charged dimsims at a truck stop. There's got to be a reason all the truckies prefer this stop to all the other unfrequented ones...lol...I had a tough time keeping my speed down but was otherwise very, very alert:rockon::rockon::rockon:...lol.

I've done one 1,100km trip in 24hrs on the FZ. Camped in my swag, and slept in my gear...lol. The rest have been over a few days.

Well it isn't an iron butt ride but a group of us riders from the San Diego area used to ride out to Laughlin, NV for their annual biker weekend. We got tired of staying out there over the weekend and getting gouged by the hotels etc so we decided to make it a day ride. This year will be our third annual Laughlin for Lunch ride. It is about 600 miles or so. We start out at 7:00am and ride out have lunch look at all the bikes for about 2hrs then ride back. We usually get back about 7:00pm or so. It's a blast. Last year we hit a huge swarm of grasshoppers! Those things hurt at 70+ mph, they also make a big splat on your helmet. I kinda ducked in behind a buddy riding a Goldwing and minimized the splatter, LOL.

My longest ride was about 800k,s from Melbourne to Adelaide on my trusty old GPZ1000rx,towing a trailer and 2 up .We were also straight off a 12 hour ferry ride from Tasmania.

Man were we beat when we got back.The highlight of the trip was trying to keep up with a brand new CBR1000 ,also 2 up and off the same boat ,all the way back !

Im an ex interstate trucker here in Oz and yes you can get a "special" coffee from the smaller stops.......The old Shell at Grafton brings back fond memories :thumbup:....And no to you Aussie blokes there wasnt anything on the mirror :rof:

My longest ride was 10 hours in one day to a bike rally. That was on Friday, then on Sunday we turned around and did another 10 hrs. It was my single best ride ever.

All I can say, is that I'm a light weight when it comes to riding a long time. I've only done maybe 5 hours with multiple stops. I live just outside Atlanta and only long trips have been up to the mountains, riding in the mountains couple of hours then going home. Twas the same with my Cruiser. Never been to another state with my bike accept trailering it one time down Panama City FL. Yep, told yall I was a light weight.

My longest was about 400-450 miles from Los Angeles to Davis, California. I stopped like clockwork every 75 miles and stretched/rested for 10 minutes minimum.

By the end, I was tired, but as soon as I got off the bike, I got my third wind and partied all night.

Then I rode back three days later which is where I set my personal land speed record.

700 miles from the north of Britain to the middle of France, over 16 hours including the ferry. On a Ducati monster. It would have been half the effort on the FZ6, I have no doubt.

Well my longest trip was not very long at all. I left from Queens NY to Fredrickburgh VA. It was a nice trip I think about 300 miles and good 7 hours. It was my longest trip.

Going to try and beat it this year and got from NY to GA, wish me luck!:rockon:

Glad to hear that others have experienced or witnessed the "special" trucker coffee so maybe it wasn't my imagination. Not sure what was in it but damn!!! (probably give me a heart attack now)

1043 miles officially (1066 on the FZ6 odometer) last August in a little under 20 hours. I rode from southern Michigan to south of Nashville and back.

I stayed pretty much straight on the interstate at around the speed limit. Sounds boring, but it was actually kinda fun. I want to do it again.

It would be tougher to do 700 miles in the twisties I think.

In 2004 a group of us Vulcan cruiser riders left a little town called Deep Creek,Maryland on Sunday morning and got into Dalton,Ga. about 12 hours later, somewhere around 600 miles.
