they had a good season, but they did not win that game. the vikings lost it.
im just a huge bret favre fan i think he is amazing for many reasons. yes i have a man crush on him. haha. but he is just magic on the field. he deserved a superbowl appearance after all he did this year and for his great career to put another feather in his cap. not to go out like that. his team let him down. he was getting knocked silly all game long due to poor pass protection and his supporting cast turned the ball over 6 times after he had driven them down the field. winning the superbowl would have cemented him in as a legend, if he isnt already.
so....yeah, i do not think the saints "deserve" to be in the superbowl. i dont care if they were 13-3 in the regular season. in the playoffs its all fresh. their 13-3 start earned them the home field advantage though the playoffs......not a superbowl appearance.
and hurricanes dont win football games. sure katrina adds to the city's pride in its team and the teams winning gives them a rallying point to celebrate coming out of some dark times....but that doesnt mean they "deserve" anything on the football field. the football field is hallowed ground and you only earn what you earn on the field. it is free of all politics and social forces. any non-football affairs have no role on the field.
if hurricane katrina had happened this year every other team playing against the saints would have been playing just as hard against them no matter what.
just my opinion, of course.
