Laundry day...

Both the Tourmaster Intake jacket and my Scorpion EXO-1000 were getting a bit, ah, funky. I've disassembled my EXO and washed the pads before (in a sink), and broke one of the snaps. I sent it back and MANY months later got it back, good as new. Well, the same damn snap broke again and I'm going to glue it in myself this time. That helmet fits wonderfully and I love the features, but damn I hate badly-designed crap like that.

The jacket was a bit interesting. The "Garment Care" tag on the neckline was obliterated, but I knew I was supposed to remove the shoulder, elbow and back pads before machine washing. Managed to get them out, but getting them back in may be a challenge, particularly the elbow pads. Everything, jacket, liner, helmet pads, even my summer gloves just went into the wash machine, we'll see how everything comes out. There's so much Velcro on everything I imagine it'll be one congealed ball when it comes out...

Well, THAT sucked! I figured the elbow pads would be a pain to put back in. I was right. Decided to go on a quickie ride afterwards, and got completely drenched on the way home. I'm guessing the pads can stand getting wet, I'm leaving them in next time I wash the jacket...

I hand-washed (that's what the tag called for) my joe rocket ballistic jacket last summer. I used NikWax wash stuff. It's pretty amazing when you hand wash something how much more "in your face" the road grime is -- and there was a lot of it.

Thankfully, the armor/padding on my jacket wasn't too tough to remove and replace.

Unfortunately, now it kinda looks like it could use another washing...

I use this stuff called Folex. I get it from Home depot. I spray the Folex on the grimey parts (especially white) and scrub with a toothbrush before I hand or machine wash. Works pretty good...
