Hello, I'm new to this forum. I own a 2007 Honda 750DC. I've allways wanted an FZ6. Well I tested one the other day for about 30 miles, and fell in love with it. I was wondering if the position of my knees might bother me on a 200 or so mile trip? I'm 55 years old with a few slight pains in my knees every so often. The 30 mile trip did'nt seem to bother me much. Thanks

It probably will depend more on your height and possibly weight. I'm 6'1" and I don't have any issues with my knees but sometimes with my hips. If I sit wrong my legs can fall asleep starting at my hips.

Post your height and hopefully someone of similar build can comment.

I am also 6'1" and can't speak of knee problems, but i will second the Hip, I have had legs fall asleep...and went to strech my leg once and got a nasty cramp in my hip flexor area...but i did learn to strech my legs i stand up on the pegs for a few seconds...I also will sometimes ride with my legs on my frame sliders...for a little bit.

Yeah its hard to tell man.

Everybody has different length bones in thier legs and bodies. I am comfy except for sometimes on long rides my hips will want to lock and hurt really bad untill I can get them back where they are supposed to be. It happened on my ninja too though.

Wish you luck.

I'll be 52 soon and am 5'10". Yes, the knees can be a problem. I have thankfully been in very good health so far but after about two hours my knees range from mild ache to really hurting. Stopping and walking is great but three advil makes me a new man, or two new knees if you will. I sometimes stick my legs out and rest them on the frame sliders. I can't recommend this since it's probably a little dangerous. I usually only do it on long straightaways with no lights. It's a small price to pay for a bike that handles like a prince. The rest of me is fine and my back never bothers me on this bike.

I am about 5'6" with a bad knee andback problems. The FZ has never bothered my knee, but I can't quite make 200 miles on it because my back begins hurting.

Greenever I am 50 with dodgy knees but have never had trouble with the FZ6 and I have done 900km days.
I would suggest you change the seat if you get a 2006 and older. The stock seat is like a brick.
Maybe the guys with 07,08 and 09 bikes can advise you on their seats.

Steve

Thanks for the help everyone! The Yamaha dealer has a used 2007 FZ1. He is going to loan it to me for a day(doesn't want to run up miles on new fz6) to see if my body feels ok after a days riding. I forgot to ad I am 5'9" at 170 pounds. The fz6 fits like a glove.

haha..you may have a different problem then, you may have a lust for the power of the 1000cc

What dealer allowed you to test ride? I have been trying but they always say "no" for insurance reasons.

Thanks in Nova but I will drive if I must to try a bike.

Thanks
