Also, I've learned after just selling my '08 250r that you need to know the demand for the bike.

I posted the bike on craigslist for $2700, hoping to get $2500...i immediately got an offer for my asking price...and several for $2500...If I had known the demand I would have offered $3000, and probably would have gotten it...the bike was in good condition too...But, with 12k miles and one drop i felt $2700 was a good price...
