Is FZ6 popular?

In a nutshell, the FZ6 aka "fazer" is a very popular bike in Europe. However, here in the states, it does not move off the show room floor as fast as the other Yamaha's, like the R6 and R1's. I believe the FZ1 are even less popular than the FZ6's, but I could be wrong. But you can't beat the price, under $7K.

I'll agree with Nelly. The the FZ6 just does not get the press reviews it deserves. From the reviews I read; I get the impression our high strung motor and it's liking for high rpm's is what hurts its popularity. Yet most say it has the strongest motor, best brakes and great overall package... go figure?

My very small dealership, located in a small college town, sold only cruisers and non FZ sport bikes. Last year I went to him for the 600 mile service and he must have liked what he saw because this year he has more FZ's on the floor than the R6's. I think he needed to see one in person.

Most riders here in the US are occasional/leisure/hobbyist riders. I think it's only a matter of time before the FZ6 catches on to be widely popular here in the US as in Europe. I bought my FZ6 for "commuting", not for an occasional weekend riding, which an R6 or any other full blown faired sportbike would be more acceptable and sufficient for an occasional weekend ride, track day and/or posing.... hehehe. In retrospect, we still have not caught on to the metric system of measure, let alone having a motorcycle to be treated as a commuter here as in your other side of the pond, Nelly.

It seems that the people that ride one enjoy them. Yamaha has bikes all over the place. If one dealer is goofy and doesnt listen to you, call another one. They can go get one in a crate and you can ride off after assembly.

I saw two other ones today. LOL We rode about 160 miles together, plus the 140 there and back. It was a blast.

I've had many bikes over the years and I was looking for a new street bike that could do more than go around the track at high speeds. I wanted a bike that I could commute on 2 or 3 days a week year around, a bike that I could join my mates with on the weekend rides and keep up with the racer replicas (which is no problem) and a bike that would be comfortable on when riding on a multi-state run. I also ride enduro and I like that more upright wide bar stance that I have on the FZ6. I've put over 8000 miles on this bike in less than a year and each time I pull it out of the garage it puts a smile on my face. Almost as much as my hooligan bike, my KTM EXC 450

You can't go wrong with buying this bike!

Cool. I will go ahead with my original plans of buying a 2008 FZ6. Thanks everyone for your responses.
