Although this is from the UK it probably applies elsewhere as well.

Thanks David. Great video.

Personally use BP Ultimate and sometimes Caltex Vortex, but will consider Shell Optimax in the future.

Thanks man. I use the Shell Premium in my little 240sx. It has to have premium fuel from the factory. Big pistons, short stroke. I get the best mileage, and performance out of the Shell fuel in my car.

Thanks, David....

Looking at their posted numbers (235 to 249, 172 to 177, 81 to 81).... the biggest change between the supreme fuel and the cheap regular pump gas amounted to 5%. And required resetting the ECU in order to ensure it could even be noticed, and multiple runs to establish.

As the FZ has no sensor to detect octane, I cannot imagine any way that the bike's ECU could reprogram itself to take advantage. What you get, is what you get.

The FZ6 motor is certainly high enough compression to use it (and potentially get that extra 'best case' 5%); the problem is the system has been programmed to run on just about anything, anywhere...... 7 pence per liter, works out (today) to 0.11 USD/liter.... or 44 cents per 1.05 gallons. Does 1.32 USD matter, per tank? That's a question best answered by each individual.

Just pouring in higher octane fuel is not going to result in more HP, unless you can alter the spark advance to the optimum number of degrees BTDC. Is there a 'piggyback' spark advance adjuster on the market for the FZ6 motor? Do you always plan to run the same brand of fuel, in the same grade?
