man i wanna see a 750 shiver vs fz6 just to see the differences ( i like both bikes ) anyone else like to see that?

no comparision.. the shiver has had more than a handfull fo problems.. have heard it is under powered as well.. but the big thing is the "its not working" seems to be the bigger problem.. something about the started motor burning out too... i have heard nothing but problems.. too bad too because i thought it was a good looking bike and the specs seem to point that it would be a blast to ride.. but not untill they work out more of the bugs and build a bigger dealer base for me...

When I was first looking for a bike a couple years ago I desperately wanted a Shiver, but they weren't yet sold in the US. Its sexy as hell. However, in the mean time I got my FZ6, later sat on a Shiver at the IMS show and hated it, then started to hear about all the problems. So, FZ6 FTW!
not that its bad looking.. im sure if it were living up to its spec sheet we would all think its a great naked bike, but since it has a bunch of problems, it just isnt something i would want..

Tested my boss' friend's Shiver and he tried my FZ6 at the same time. I thought the shiver was absolutely Craptastic! He regrets buying it now after feeling the FZ6 under him. It is under powered and a bit doggy. It's an electronic throttle without any cable and it scares the crap out of me. Very different feel! Not a lot on the low end, and nothing in the upper end. The FZ6 clearly out classes that 750cc dog. I almost bought one after selling my '05 FZ6 and the Shiver was the actual bike I put mine on the market for to begin with. Then Yamaha released that '08 Cobalt Blue and I was twitterpated. So long Shiver, hellllllllllllooooooooo new FZ6!!! Can't begin to tell you how happy I am with that decision after trying his.
BTW, yes, his starter has burned out twice and the ECM failed once and needed to be replaced. Valves need adjustment every 8k too.

its crazzy but when i really try and be honest with myself.. i pick the fz6.. i would probably keep picking the fz6.. i just like it and it works for me.. does everything i want it to... i will probably try to keep mine or keep a newer one for life. but that doesnt mean i cant buy a 2nd bike...
this guy i know who owns a motorcycle dealership... he is soo funny and tells me all the time that the average person needs to own 4 bikes at any one time.. cruiser or standard, sports, sport touring, and dirt... i gotta admit that he is right, but unless he is giving my another for free...

Haven't heard much good about the Shiver. Apparently the front brake calipers are Brembo knockoffs too.
Yes, they are knock-offs... and the biggest problem with the Aprilia bikes is they have very little resale value right off the lot. Their value drops like an anchor at sea the moment you sign the paperwork.
The form and fit of the bike was very comfortable though. slightly more upright than the FZ6, but also taller with a higher center of gravity.
I just can't describe the throttle... you'd have to test one to know what I mean when I say it is weird. My only thought was, what if the computer goes berzerk in a heavy leaner, knee-dragging corner? But, then again, there's a lot of bikes with the electronic throttle and it's growing rapidly in MotoGP so it's got something going for it.

Only experience with throttle by wire so far is girlfriend's Volvo, and can't stand it. Too much lag!
So let's take a simple, reliable and instantly responsive design of a cable and replace it with expensive, complex electronics and servos. Yeah, that's a good idea.

I saw the Shiver in the showroom today, it looks nice and I was planning a test ride. Even now i've read your experience
I'm riding my Fazer for the fourth year now so looking out for something new, though I still love the Fazer it's such a fun, useful practical, beautiful bike. Guess it will be hard to find a decent replacement :thumbup:
I'm very curious about the Kawa ER-6F. Anyone tried this machine?

The Shiver is a cool looking bike, but there is very little dealer support for Aprilia in my neck of the woods.

agreed.. a street tripple and fz6 comparo would be great.. i think one of the mags should do a light sport touring shoot out and put up like:

i went to a dealership and that 675's throttle resonse is unbelievable georges bike also
