I have had my first 'off'!

Hello all,

Have been a lurker for a while but now I have a question following my first unplanned exit from the bike yesterday.

I have a few scuffs to te bike including a cracked crank case (stone went through it so I have a new one on order) but the thing I don't know about it the fairing surrounding the headlights is now lopsided - I assume I have bent the arm(s) that hold the fairing on? - is this a simple job to replace - I think this job may be beyond me and it will need to go back to the dealers just want to prepare for the shock of how much this will cost to fix.

Download the service manual and figure out how to take it apart...it's not too hard. You can do it!! :thumbup:

It's quite simple... if you click on the video link in my signature below, look for the "Naked Conversion PART I" flick, it`ll show you the different steps you`ll need to follow to get to your bent front fairing stay bracket... Good luck.

thanks for this chaps - really really helpful - I love 'how to' videos as well.

Have just phoned the dealer to order the Stay and have been told I probably need new headlights as well as I would have damaged the screws and associated things that hold them in position - is this right? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

pull it apart and see what looks broken. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! :thumbup:

wavex's video will help but it is pretty easy to come apart.

Don't order the headlight before checking it out first!!! They want you to spend money and my bet is you just need the front stay bracket... you actually may be able to bend it back into shape yourself and be done with it if you are willing to spend some time disassembling your front cowl...

once again - top tips. Will have a look when I get home tonight. I hate being bikeless. Takes ages to get anywhere on 4 wheels (kicks self again for being an idiot).
