Ok folks,
Here's the drill, have been looking for a track bike for a while now, and have recently found out that the Australian Yamaha Racing Team have a couple ex FZ6 cup bikes from last years series for sale....including all the road gear, that was taken off the bikes to convert them to Race Spec for the FZ6 Cup!
There was only a couple left when i made my initial enquiries, and only one left that had not been dropped whilst racing!
The bike i am purchasing has previously been raced by the former editor of Australian Motorcycle News, Ken Woottton, and Amy O'mara, who posted some reasonably decent results on the bike in the 2008 FZ6 Cup.
Previous sponsor of the bike was Hogs Breathe Cafe...hence, the hot pink paint scheme!!!!!
might have to change that, but at this point, that aint a huge priority, as the pink sorta appeals to my warped sense of humour!
Each FZ6 cup bike comes with the following modifications...
Fitment of a custom made fairing (similar to early FZ1) and custom single seat made by Racers Edge.
GYTR alloy body race muffler and lead-in pipe.
GYTR braided steel front brake hose set
NEW GYTR crash knob set
NEW Carbon Kevlar case protectors and Zap Racing chainguard
Öhlins racing rear shock absorber with NEW ride height adjustment
Öhlins steering damper
Öhlins front fork springs with NEW modified internals to improve damping
ValterMoto rear sets
ValterMoto clip ons
This bike also comes with a few extra suspension modifications as allowed within FZ6 cup rules, and in this case the suspension mods have been done by one of Australia's leading Suspension Tech's, Frank Pons, who has years of National & International experience with race bikes.
Have Spoken to Frank today and he is going to organise to get the right springs, front & back for my weight, sent as part of the deal.
The bike also has a power commander fitted.
I am extremely excited about my purchase....cant wait to get the bike out on the track, and who know's, if i can post some half reasonable times without scaring the poop out of myself, i may even try to get a racing license, some sponsorship, and maybe even do a couple of races!!!
So here i go, my first full on track bike, with the added bonus of getting all the road gear that was taken off the bike to turn it into a Racer! Awesome!
I will get the bike as it was raced, nothing has been changed since the end of last season.
Have no idea how many HP it has, but will be taking it to a Dyno to get a read & a tune, just to see, at the very least.
