How do you start on a hill?

I sometimes still have hill problems as well. Usually I find it easier to use the rear brake; not sure why. But when the tranny is giving me downshift problems, I switch the weight to the right foot and use the front brake while I reset the tranny using the clutch. One thing FZ surely doesn't stand for is friction zone.

This is the method I use and it works awesome for me but I do know folks that do have trouble with it.

If you're going to use the front brake and throttle technique, I find it helps to cover the front brake with the index and middle finger and leave the other two wrapped around the throttle...

Do whatever feels right for you, and if you've got something that's working fine you shouldn't change it.

But I was taught to use the rear brake only at very slow speeds to avoid the chance of grabbing the front brake if you have to stop in a hurry.

Eg if you take off then the car in front suddenly stops, if you have both feet on the ground there's a chance you'll hit the front brake too hard (esp if you're also trying to work the throttle with that hand), making it a lot easier to tip over.

So in this case if you had your right foot on the rear brake and your right hand only on the throttle, you'd have less of a chance of this happening.

Do you mean that I turn the throttle to 1250 before releasing the clutch? If not, isn't idle speed controlled by the computer?
I meant check that your idle speed is correct. If its set up properly it reuces the amount of revs you need to give the bike.
The idle speed needs to be checked once the bike is warm.
