Hmmm sounding like a blonde :rof: of course they would be on the side of the road. I'm sure they don't just sit in trees all day. I have an excuse though, I've only ever seen them in zoos and in Oz's avatar pic :tard:

Steph ,around this area is a lot of bush , I have had Koala's in my front yard,also had a kangaroo hop down my street early one morning,true story !
And that story is as strange to me as my story was to you the other night when skunk was on the back step so I couldn't let the dog out
in fact, koala's,wallabies, wombats, etc, can be a bit of a hazard on the roads at night due to the belair national park,and lots of scrub near by,

Very true mate.You have the park and I have Happy Valley Reservoir ,Happy Valley drive goes between the reservoir and the golf course and is NOT lit at all.All manner of critters running across that road.
Yes, unfortuneatly i know that too well....Front Bumper Bars and Wombat's dont mix.....they are solid bugger's, made a real mess of the cool air intake on my Ford! And yes i did stop, and yes, i did arrange for the RSPCA to come and pick up the rather dazed Wombat!
Lots of Foxes up around this wy too, and i know Happy Valley Reservoir reserve is full of them too...i suppose it's just one of the things you have to deal with, living so close to the country.....on the flipside, the kids love it, and they get heaps more opportunity than most kids to experience these animals first hand.

Koalas, Wallabies and Wombats Oh my!
Our top 4 roadkill are raccoons, skunks, deer and unfortunately cats. Ohhhh and our kamikaze birds! It is insane, we are for the most part, wide open fields on either side of the roads. Those freakin birds fly straight across the road about bumper level. You can slow down and they will swerve to hit your truck!! Or your bike!! Or your shoulder!! Or knee!! I have not had the pleasure of getting bird schmutz all over my clothes but Jim has. And I was riding behind him one time that a seagull decided that his helmet looked good enough to see up close! He missed it, but his bike did a major wobble. I think I was laughing for the next 10 kms, it struck my funny bone to say the least

Good to hear you pulled yourself out of that one. Ive been lucky up to now havent had any run ins with our furry critters up till now.
Just got back from another ride, this time to the Bay for a quick look at all the drunken idiots coming out of the pubs, and staggering, brawling, generally being totally offensive...gotta love the Melbourne Cup!
Big fight happened right near where we parked....
Cops were not anywhere to sort it out....probably too busy mounitng the 4 Speed camera's i saw tonight!

Just a touch.....not my scene! You can have the Melbourne cup, Moto GP at Phillip Island kills it...and the punters are reasonably well behaved, compared to this lot!

Oh absolutely.....i was doing the speed limit through all 4 camera's, so was not worried about being fined, just found it interesting that there were drunks everywhere down the bay, and i was there for over an hour, and i did not see one cop, but i saw at least 2 fights, and the remains ofd at least one more!

You say cynicism, I say realism. I have to say I'm in complete agreement with Wolfman. I've had loads of tickets but have NEVER had any help from the police......not with break ins, car theft or petty larceny. I call it like I see it:don'tknow:.
I can do the speed limit all day until I get hit by somebody who can't drive and has no business picking up a set of car keys.(Like the old bloke at Woodside Servo, cut off a truck on the way in, nearly hit Wolfman's bike and hit a pump all in the short distance from the road to the pumps.):shakehead:
The real problem (bad drivers, phone usage and sheer mongrelism) needs to be addressed and raising revenue from speeding drivers isn't helping

Nearly all the deaths on our roads are caused by trees. Hmmm. Gee that's a tough one. How do we save more lives?....Hmmm....I know....Speed cameras:shakehead:.
Oh! And the figures of very slight road toll improvement are due primarily to safer cars, air bags, abs, and the fact that we are in an ever worsening drought. Every time it rains, every one starts crashing again....lol....So unless speed cameras stop the rain........:rant::rant:
Rant complete........just got to cool off the steam coming from my ears....lol.
Not having a go at anyone personally:thumbup:......just the system that's slowing me down, to make me easier to hit, to get me killed by somebody who should take the bus:rant:.
