Hesitation at low RPMs when full throttle

So I posted a couple of days ago about a problem where I am either in first or second gear and if I have low RPMs and give the bike full throttle, there is a slight hesitation before it takes off. My idle speed was perfect so I had no idea what else it could be. I do have a Scorpion exhaust, K&N air filter and PCIII installed.

Just for kicks, I disconnected the PCIII and the bike runs perfect... so apparently I have a bad map uploaded to it? It ran fine on the map for 2 months and just started acting up recently... I got the map off of the PC website for a Scorpion exhaust and K&N air filter... any suggestions on a new map I should upload or keep the PCIII off the bike completely? Anyone experience anything similar?

I would be interested in knowing an answer to this, too. However, I thought the scorpion exhaust was designed to work with the stock map?

It is... I conveniently found this out after paying $350 for a PCIII so I installed it anyway. Now it is just messing my bike up apparently.. I'll sell it on E-bay if I have to.
 
Which map are you using? 410-002? That is the DJ map for an FZ6 with a Scorp exhaust with a stock or K&N filter. You also have an 07 or newer bike correct??? If this is the case the DJ map is a POS, WAAAAAY too rich.

Some of the problems are this:

1) 0 to about 6500 rpm and for 0 to 20% throttle opening the FI system is closed loop. You want it at "0" for that range/area of the program.

2) The 410-002 map is map for the non-O2 sensor bikes, you have an O2 sensor.

3) Your bike can't burn that much fuel so it passes it out. I'm sure it smells rich. Our bikes are rich from the factory anyway. You need to go lean.

4) PM me and I'll email my map to you if you don't want to program it.

5) Look in the mods section for more info on the dyno tuning session I had done, if you like.

Below is my map, it will probably work fine for you too.

Thanks for the info, I do have a 2008 FZ6. I'm using the M410-002 map from the PCIII website.
 
^^^ Yup, too fat and for the wrong FI system. DJ does a very poor job of creating maps. With a custom tune the PCIII is on it.

I can't import those numbers into my program for some reason into my map... would you mind setting me a map that is more suited for a 2008 FZ6 that has a scorpion exhaust and k and n air filter?

Left to right is % of throttle opening; 0, 2, 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100.

Up and down is rpm every 250 rpm.

The number at the intersection of a column and a row a the amount of relative change; a positive number is an increase from stock, a negative is a decrease, zero is stock. Because it is a relative change you really need a dyno and exhaust analyzer to understand what changes you are making.

If you can't sleep here's the software manual. The PCIII is really an amazing piece of hardware. Check out the advanced settings and tuning individual cyclinders, amazing.

I hope this helps. I've given this out to about a dozen people or so and I've only heard back from one person. They were very happy with the map. This should make your throttle crisp and responsive again.

Please let me know how this works out.

Here's the tuner's notes in the program footer:

2007 Yamaha FZ6 USA Model (REAL REDLINE IS 13,600 LIMITER)
No oxygen sensor emulator, runs on closed loop to 20% throttle and 6500 rpm, changes below these values make no difference
Triple catalyzers are EXTREMELY efficient resulting in .1-0.0% CO and HC in 30-40ppm range
Owner: Pete
Akrapovic SP series Slip Ons CE approved (Db-Killer Removed) - Catalyzer in place
Stock or aftermarket air filter
No other known mods
tuned by [email protected]
Dyno: Factory Pro EC997 with 4 gas EGA
 
Go for a custom map....at least you will know you are getting the most from your investment...plus you get a real hp readout, which IMHO gives you validation for money spent.

Hellgate, first of all - you are da man. Secondly, after hearing your explanation about the power commander, it has put me over the edge towards getting one. Thirdly, do you have the LCD interface that hooks up to it via USB? Looks like the icing on the cake to me!

No I just hook my PCIII up to my notebook and use the stock software. It is really easy to use. I would recommend one if you are particular (picky) about how your bike runs. Its neat because you can get it "just so". I'm very happy with mine and I'm glad I bought it.

As Wolfman a a few others have done a custom tune by an experianced tuner really make the PCIII shine. The maps they give you are terrible, I mean really bad. On the whole they are way too rich, by a mile!

When I first installed my PCII I used the DJ Akrapovic map, it was so-so. When I had the tune done it was a different bike.

I just uploaded the map and let the bike idle in the garage and can already tell it is running smoother. It holds steady at ~1300 RPMs (had my laptop connected to it)... can't wait to test it tomorrow.

anyone have a link to the procedure where we can get the stock computer to alter the FI? I know someone did it here before but can't seem to find it...
 
^^^ I know the post is here and on the other place. I think is was under O2 sensor tuning, or o2 dyno. O2 in there somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
