I can't get over the guy in the car with the camera. There is a man laying motionless in the street and he has to check his Camry has a scratch? :spank:

Defo car cut across the lane. There's scooter heading straight from the rhs lane early in the vid, so assuming that it's a dual purpose lane, turn right, or go straight. I nearly got taken out like this last week... Damn cager cutting across from the middle lane to turn, I slammed on the brakes and he just kept going, prolly "didn't even see me". Grrr

Dumb ass cager(the one in the car which recorded the incident), to busy checking the car instead of calling for help.. When he got his phone out it was probably to call the insurance company :spank:

There is no doubt that it's the cagers fault.
He is just behind the white bus in the beginning and is definitely crossing the lane where the scooters are riding. On the right hand side of the screen you can see that there are two roads, the one the bus takes and then one right after the orange sign, which the scooter who avoids the car goes down.

Hmmmmm

The car that did the damage nearly missed the turnoff, but, indicated and waited for a much faster car to take the turn. He then pulled across the lane to take the offramp.

The traffic seems to be faster on the side than in the middle of the road, which is always a problem.

Neither the car nor the scooter were actually paying attention. Scooter SHOULD have seen indicators several car lengths back already.

People really have no sense of assessing risk/gain..this is the thing that blows my mind in LA everyday, I often see people taking high risks in traffic in order to, for example not miss the off ramp or not the miss the yellow light. Who wants to get in a head on collision to not wait 2 more minutes at a red light? I guess my time is not as valuable as theirs.

There are probably two lanes. The car had it's turn signal on but was probably in the fast lane and cut across the slow lane to make the right turn. The scooter may have thought the turn signal was for a lane change and the rider didn't anticipate the car would cut across the slow lane to make the right turn.

This is a great example for anyone riding in traffic.

Rules don't apply in driving a car after you've taken the written exam and road test. Even with law enforcement present, drivers can't find figure out how to drive and are pulled over and ticketed.

If you keep this in mind you'll be a better, safer rider.

I believe riding makes you a better cager. Maybe there should be graduated licensing. You get a scooter for a year first!!! :D If you think you're slick and tell them you have a bad leg and can't ride a scooter you get a shovel license. What would a shovel license be you ask? You get a cart pulled by a yak. That's right! You also get a shovel to clean up carbon deposit emitted by your vehicle!!!

I've had a car force me across three lanes because he wanted to make a left turn. When I realized what was happening and was out of room I throttled past between him and a stopped car he was trying nudge behind. It was so close I thought I had clipped them.

Great example and topic Erci!

True! In this town idiot cagers run reds all the time. As does some of cities transit drivers. {** INSERT MASSIVE FAIL here!!! **}
For me when it turns yellow my first thought is "can I stop in time without being @ss ended and/OR skidding through the intersection into the cross walk?" If yes, than I stop!

I always enjoy the Group Analysis Threads. It's good to see others points of view.

+1 I lay most of the blame on the car, but scooter dude should've been paying a bit more attention. Maybe should've slowed down a bit to get out of the cagers' blind spot too! If you want to get hit, the best way is to hang out next to the rear quarter panel of a vehicle!

that had to be one of the sweetest cell phone pouches i have ever seen and it was on a swivel clip as well... cager was at fault not even paying attention as he darted over two lanes to make the turn... hopefully he was cited or arrested by the authorities that responded to the scene...

but at least the cager, after getting himself toghetter from the shock, went and check on the guy he hit. Filming guy just stood there beeing a complete douche
